The 4Ms of Effective Training According to Baer (2018), employee training is one of the primary ways through which organizations can enhance their competitiveness in today’s hyper-competitive business environment. He states that there are ‘4Ms' to effective employee training, these are; mobile, measurability, micro and memorable information. Microlearning involves breaking down the training syllabus into smaller, shorter regular lessons to give employees a better opportunity to retain understand and retain what they learn. Mobile learning entails providing the training content via mobile gadgets such as tablets, laptops and mobile phones to enable employees to access it at a time and place of their convenience. Practical training is memorable; this is enhanced by providing real work situations where the employee can practice what they learn and creating an interactive, engaging training syllabus. Lastly, for training to be deemed effective, its results should be measurable. Measuring the results of training involves evaluating whether there is a positive outcome in productivity and efficiency as a result of it. Application To create an effective training curriculum, I will apply these 4Ms by creating content that employees can access via their mobile devices I can apply these 4Ms while developing a training curriculum. Instead of one long lesson, I will divide the training into eight modules which they will access twice a week. To make the course memorable, I will test their understanding by giving them work-related scenarios where they can apply the training. Additionally, it is crucial to measure the effectiveness of the training by assessing whether the employees' efficiency has improved and the impact this has on their work and the organization as a whole.
