1 Evidence-based Practice, Research and Nursing Evidence-based practice, research, and nursing are integral aspects of quality healthcare since they help promote quality in healthcare settings and support the delivery of relevant quality services to patients (Dang & Dearholt, 2017). This discussion looks at some of the similarities and differences associated with EBP, research and nursing processes. Research is the scientific inquiry intended to generate information that can resolve healthcare challenges. The purpose of healthcare research is to validate existing knowledge or generate new knowledge based on certain theoretical principles (Kaakinen et al., 2018). Research involves investigation and discovery as well as a clear understanding of the philosophical principles of science. Research is an invaluable healthcare process that enables nurses to determine the best treatments for certain diseases and their impact on certain populations (Grove & Gray, 2018).

2 On the other hand, evidence-based practice refers to the translation and application of knowledge, evidence, and clinical expertise to satisfy the health needs of a patient. The major role of evidence-based practice is to support clinical decision-making processes (Dang & Dearholt, 2017). It ensures that a person-centred approach is employed during patient care. Nursing practice is autonomous, as well as collaborative care of persons suffering from different health problems. Nursing involves the treatment of people with various health disorders. Nurses utilize a range of strategies including evidence-based practice, patient-centred care, and research findings to prevent diseases, promote the health of the people and improve the quality of life for all (Kaakinen et al., 2018). Further, the nursing process entails promoting a safe environment, patient education, and participation in health policy development. The main similarity between nursing research and the evidence-based process is that they focus on improving patient safety through the delivery of high-quality services (Kaakinen et al., 2018). Further, nursing and evidence-based processes are dependent on finding from different scientific studies.
