2 [SECTION 3] Then God smiled, And the light broke, And the darkness rolled up on one side, And the light stood shining on the other, And God said: That's good! DAY(S) OF CREATION: First day (Gen 1:3-5) [SECTION 4] Then God reached out and took the light in his hands, And God rolled the light around in his hands Until he made the sun; And he set that sun a-blazing in the heavens. And the light that was left from making the sun God gathered it up in a shining ball And flung it against the darkness, Spangling the night with the moon and stars. Then down between The darkness and the light He hurled the world; And God said: That's good! DAY(S) OF CREATION Second day (Gen 1:6-7) [SECTION 5] Then God himself stepped down – And the sun was on his right hand, And the moon was on his left; The stars were clustered about his head, And the earth was under his feet. And God walked, and where he trod His footsteps hollowed the valleys out And bulged the mountains up. DAY(S) OF CREATION: Second day (Gen 1:7-8) [SECTION 6] Then he stopped and looked and saw That the earth was hot and barren. So God stepped over to the edge of the world And he spat out the seven seas – He batted his eyes, and the lightnings flashed – He clapped his hands, and the thunders rolled – And the waters above the earth came down, The cooling waters came down.

3 DAY(S) OF CREATION: Third day (Gen 1:9) [SECTION 7] Then the green grass sprouted, And the little red flowers blossomed, The pine tree pointed his fingers to the sky, And the oak spread out his arms, The lakes cuddled down in the hollows of the ground, And the rivers ran down to the sea; And God smiled again, And the rainbow appeared, And curled itself around his shoulder. DAY(S) OF CREATION: Third day (Gen 1:11-12) [SECTION 8] Then God raised his arm and he waved his hand Over the sea and over the land, And he said: Bring forth! Bring forth! And quicker than God could drop his hand, Fishes and fowls And beasts and birds Swam the rivers and the seas, Roamed the forests and the woods, And split the air with their wings. And God said: That's good! DAY(S) OF CREATION: Fourth day (Gen 1:14-18) [SECTION 9] Then God walked around, And God looked around On all that he had made. He looked at his sun, And he looked at his moon, And he looked at his little stars; He looked on his world With all its living things, And God said: I'm lonely still. DAY(S) OF CREATION: Fifth day (Gen 1:14) [SECTION 10] Then God sat down – On the side of a hill where he could think; By a deep, wide river he sat down;

4 With his head in his hands, God thought and thought, Till he thought: I'll make me a man! DAY(S) OF CREATION: Sixth day (Genesis 1:26). [SECTION 11] Up from the bed of the river God scooped the clay; And by the bank of the river He kneeled him down; And there the great God Almighty Who lit the sun and fixed it in the sky, Who flung the stars to the most far corner of the night, Who rounded the earth in the middle of his hand; This Great God, Like a mammy bending over her baby, Kneeled down in the dust Toiling over a lump of clay Till he shaped it in his own image; DAY(S) OF CREATION: Sixth day (Genesis 1:27). [SECTION 12] Then into it he blew the breath of life, And man became a living soul. Amen. Amen. Then God sat down – On the side of a hill where he could think; By a deep, wide river he sat down; With his head in his hands, God thought and thought, Till he thought: I'll make me a man! DAY(S) OF CREATION: Sixth day (Genesis 1:26). The most Impactful Creation Day The creation day described by Johnson that is most impactful to me is the sixth day, when God created the animals that live on land and humans. At the end of the fifth day, Johnson recounts that God loved what he had created ad deemed it as beautiful, but was still lonely. Therefore, the creation on the sixth day is impactful because after God had made man in his likeness, and it was only until the creation of man that God decided to rest as his creation had achieved completeness. Out of all the creation days, the sixth day seems to be more thoughtful compared to the reset. In recounting the sixth day, Johnson says “Then God sat down –On the side of a hill where he could think; By a deep, wide river he sat down; With his head in his hands, God thought and thought, Till he thought: I'll make me a man!” (Genesis 1:26). Remarkably, God’s decision to create man was a culmination of serious through on the need to complete the creation, and it is during this time that after creating man, he considered the completion as complete and rested on the sixth day. As asserted in Genesis 1:26, Johnson says that before God created man, he “God thought and thought, Till he thought” (Weldon, 2016, par.6). It is intriguing to learn that the creation of man was after a deep thought unlike the other creations that God commissioned without much imagination. In Genesis 1;25, ““Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.’ So God

6 created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” Therefore, the creation of man is in the likeness of God, unlike other creations that were made on the other days. How God Has Sustained the Sixth day of Creation Indeed, God has sustained the sixth day of creation even until today with all of our scientific/technological advances. God has continued to sustain His creation of humans by giving them power to procreate and continue to create innovations that make their lives better. In Genesis 1:28, God commissioned man to “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” Indeed, humans continue to marry, have families and bring forth offspring as commissioned by God after creating them. Indeed, this follows God’s commissioning to fill the earth and subdue it, because in addition to procreation, humans still continue to be innovative as they explore all available means to sustain livelihoods (Kearney, 1977).
