1 Teacher Roles and Responsibilities Professional Development Teachers play the crucial role of imparting knowledge and skills in students, preparing them to be responsible and productive members of society in the future. Given the scope of the responsibility assigned to teachers, it is important to acquire additional training that will make them effective in their roles. As the world continues to globalize at a rapid pace, there are many changes that teachers have to deal with; these includes; technological advancements, change in syllabus, and changes in teaching procedures. 2 Teachers have a wide range of options to choose from when it comes to selecting training activities. These includes individual study or research into the area of interest, seminars and workshops, online courses, taking college or university courses, receiving guidance form a mentor or coach, attending conferences and on-the-job trainings (Podovšovnik, 2020). The teacher should take the initiative to research the professional development opportunities available to them. Communicating with Colleagues A new teacher, like any new employee should acquaint themselves with the structure of the organization in which they are employed, in this case, being the school environment. They should also strive to develop a cordial professional relationship with their colleagues . It is important that they maintain personal and professional boundaries in their interactions with each other. The new teacher should strive to work collaboratively with new colleagues, asking the relevant questions where necessary (Mizell, 2020). The new teacher fosters collaborative relationships with their colleagues in campus and the district by asking for help where necessary, giving and accepting constructive criticism, attending training forums together and collaborating on educational matters such as developing lesson plans and teaching strategies. Working productively with supervisors is essential to the progression of a teacher’s career. To have a harmonious and successful professional relationship with supervisors, the teacher should follow their guidance, and show interest in becoming better at their job. It is crucial to learn to accept criticism and make changes where they are recommended. To develop a good working relationship with supervisors, the new teacher may take on more challenging projects, which shows that they are keen to develop their skills. Teachers are also required to

3 work with other educators (Scanlon, 2018). They can achieve this by creating a learning community, where teachers interact learn from each other. Connecting digitally through emails, and other social networks also enhances a good working relationship. Supporting the Campus and District In takes a team of personnel to educate students. In the educational context, campus/district personnel work collaboratively to ensure that students have an all-round meaningful learning experience. Campus personnel range from the management and leaders, administrative staff, teachers, and support staff (Weinberger, & Libman, 2018). Each of them plays a crucial role in a child’s education process. Collaboration among teachers involves working together to develop the most effective teaching strategies. This can be achieved through creating a network of teaching staff where they learn from each other, and participate in group work. To collaborate with campus/district personnel to achieve the objectives of the school/district, the teacher must first understand what the goals are, and find out the role they can play in the achievement of these goals. It is essential to participate actively in solving problems, making decisions and sharing ideas. Teachers can do this by simply learning to express and articulate their opinions confidently.
