In
13 card rummy games it is essential to know some tricks to win and enjoy playing rummy.
If
the 13 cards received by us has not have any possibilities of arranging it as a runs or sets, we can drop that round to prevent that from full count and from that our points not to exceed the minimum drop points.
We
should try to imagine the opponent card by knowing the discards made by them and the cards they draw.
Then it will be easy to discard the unwanted cards so that they never need that one.
Always
check the other player's points as well as the discard pile before discarding yourself.
You
may be able to play off of their points, or at least prevent giving them an easy 'rummy on the board'
Jokers
are important in the rummy game and you need to focus on making the best use of jokers in your game.
Always
use the joker card to complete a run or set of higher point's
value. Keep
thinking about different ways to use the joker/s because you would find that there are many ways to use the joker.
You must make at least two sequences as per 13 card rummy; you can use the Joker to make one non-pure sequence too.
If
the opponent suddenly declares and you still have some idle high point cards and you also have a joker with you as unused or in a sequence having lower point values then try to use that joker to make the sequence with the high point cards to minimize the points.
Try
to make use of the cards discard by the opponent; Drawing from the discard pile has both advantage and disadvantage.
Disadvantage is that your opponent can see what card you take from the discard pile.
If
you pick up a three of clubs to match with the three of diamonds in your hand, you may never get that third card because your opponent will hold onto it until the end of the game.
The advantage is that there is a chance of getting a sequence of cards belonging to that category in future to form a run, since they didn't need that set of cards only at Indian rummy game.
You
can also use a trick; by discarding a card that you require.
This
can work when you are actually looking for a card to form a set.
For instance you are melding a set of three Ace Cards and you have Ace of hearts & Clubs, then discarding a two of spades will confuse your opponent who may then discard a Ace of Spade, which is what you want at 13 card rummy game.
Try
to make a show as soon as possible to make sure that the opponent will obtain a maximum number of points.
