INTRO The Longhorn Cavern was formed by the geography roles of millions year and the continue water drops, which is hardly experienced from ephemeral visual contact. Is it possible make visitors realize these geo-sequences and relationships? Is there a way to present such extreme magnitude of time in architecture experience? This project was a located in the potential creek which collects the rainstorm around the cave. Compared to the millions horizontal sedimentary layers, the architecture was organized as vertical layers down along the terrain. As visitors walk through these manmade layers, they experience the changing of time. The sunshine and seasonal gardens, the rainstorm ponds, they are a part of the site and show incredebale beautiful through those wall-space. Those vertical concrete walls were constructed layer by layer, so that the manmade patterns layers show on the surface and continue the logic of sedimentary ground. The walls pointed to the direction of cave and also expand the indoor space to outside gardens. Without clear boundaries, various activities such as the celebration or exhibition can happen there. These strategies were trying to build abstract-physical connection to the cave and expand the experience of the cave to the architecture and its site. After people walk through those layers, they will go downside and along the potential creek into the cave.

INTRO Here we see such a wonderful cave. Not only shaped by the earth movement, also the inflution of water, raining and evaporation, which is another crucial reason to create those amazing pattern and space. These process of nature, however, we human beings can hardly catch them in eyes. The water drop, for example, happens in one second but continues in millions years, which is far beyond our ability of congizance. But they are the truth beyond the surface. So this exhibition is not about to create something new but shows the relationship of water and cave through different physics properties. And reexpression this beautiful evolution in the magnitude of time, from 10-10 s, 100 s to 10100 s.

INTRO With the development of the information age, the public space becomes placeless-ness since personal values may have possibility of infinite zooming in anywhere through Internet. The current monument is gradually weaken including the axis of Austin which starts from UT Tower to Capital. How can one behave in the library, the role of which is to challenge the idea of personal sharing and rare book display, so that this looking serves the purpose of a meaningful individual monumental public place and antidote to places-ness?

INTRO The project tattled as " WE CREATE", which means we expect the citizen of Leander have such a opportunity to create their own community, create their beginning of career in a charming working environment, and create various ways of using the space. Although the population of Leander is blooming in recent ten years, people there just treat the town as a "Bedroom Town". They work in somewhere else but back to sleep. At the same time, the unemployee rate is pretty high. Through research, there are two problems catched our attention: 1) There is not enough jobs in the town. 2) The working enviornment is frustrated. On the other hand, the town is ready for new developments: A TOD (Transit Orientation District) is under planning; A new ACC (Austin Community Campus) is comming soon. If the future is bright, so why not just create what missed there? So our GOAL is connecting TOD & ACC to create a new community center which bring various city-life, and establish an easy-start office space for self-employed in where people can start their business from renting a desk. The project should connected into a potential green belt and bike lane system of the town, which provide Leander with the prospective for green and healthy lifestyle. Is it possible that an architecture can drive the society moving forward? Through our practice, we BELIEVE architects should think from the urban design to a handrail construction; from build atmosphere to imagine the operations of markets; from control the lighting environment to plant a tree into daily life... Then the anwser should be YES!

To merge the architecture into the city landscape, it was divided into several parts but conncected through platform to present a monumental but friendly outlook. The programs were arranged according to the surrounding background. The connection of the west train station to the east green belt and ACC was reflected on the form. Because the terrain goes lower from the west to east, we cut out a center plaza and continued it to the east green belt, also raised up two ramps from the first level to the second level which indicated two important directions and the funcational second level platform. The building served both surrounding families and those who worked inside. The flexible space encouraged people's creative usage. Various courtyards and green space were invited into the building. So that it's not just simple boxes keep people stay inside, but also a plaza, a platform, a garden, and a place belong to the city of leander, a community works for everyone.
