Care and wellbeing
ACG Tauranga students are encouraged to develop empathy, compassion and respect for others, to think about the world around them, and to care about their community and environment.
Tutor programme Our unique programme allocates a tutor to every student for mentoring, coaching and ongoing support throughout the year. Coaching is carried out in groups and on a one-to-one basis, and successfully contributes to lifting student achievement.
Parent communication Parent/teacher conferences are an excellent way for parents to gain an overview of their child’s academic and social progress. Parents can contact the school at any time to arrange a meeting.
House system Leadership opportunities, a supportive school culture, and a sense of belonging are just some of the positives to come out of the house system at ACG Tauranga. Each house is made up of a mix of year groups. This ‘vertical’ system encourages interaction between year levels and strengthens a sense of family. Siblings are kept together, creating a ‘family within a family’.
Transition programme Our transition programme aims to help new students transition to school. Tutors assign each new student a buddy (or buddies) to guide them through the early stages of their school experience, helping them adjust to the culture and processes of the school and ensuring they feel supported and welcome.
