From the Publisher Many People Die At 25 But Aren't Buried Till Their 75 Most people don’t experience the life of their dreams simply because they quit way too easily. Life is going to find a way to test you. At times, you may feel that life is unfair. The urge to quit during these difficult times are the highest; but don’t give in. Whatever your dream is, if it’s important to you, then fight for it. Just remember that there is more than one way to achieve your dreams. If one way doesn’t work, just change your strategy, don't die before your time. Never giving up doesn’t mean you keep doing the wrong things over and over, it means to be smart and figure out the correct actions to take and then taking them until you achieve your dreams. George Eliot once said “It is never too late to be what you might have been.” “The worlds not all sunshine and rainbows. It can be a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you think you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. Ali, nor Mike Tyson can hit you as hard as life. But it’s about how hard you hit back. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.” Don’t die internally at 25, 35, 45 or 55 only to be buried at 75, do you know how much you will be stinking with regret and disappointment by then ? “The struggle you’re in today is developing the strength you need for tomorrow.” Some people are always blaming circumstances or other people for what they are or what they're going through. I personally don’t . The people who get ahead in this world are the people who get up and look for the opportunities they want, and if they can’t find them, make them.” Galatians 6:9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. The worst thing you can do is not to try, to be aware of what you want and not going after it, to spend years in silent hurt wondering if something could have materialized - never knowing. It’s simple, when we stop dreaming or looking forward to tomorrow we start dying. Don't let it happen to you. So in closing remember, each mistake teaches you something new about yourself. There is no failure, except in no longer trying. It is the courage to continue that counts. Min. Joe Johnson

My Testimony By: Christopher Wyleek Cummings

My name is Christopher Wyleek Cummings and I am a survivor. I survived what has killed so many people the world over. I am a cancer survivor. In 2007 I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. For ten and a half months, I underwent aggressive chemotherapy and radiation treatment to battle this disease. I was privileged enough to go through chemotherapy with people who were diagnosed with the same form of cancer that I had, but they died. Some died because they could not contend with the chemo; some because of the stage of cancer they were in; some because of worry. I was never afraid. Not to die. Not to fight. Not to hope. Not to believe that my will to live was greater than that of leaving this world due to cancer. I had no hope of paying the tremendous cost involved with receiving chemo and radiation treatments.

I was chosen to carry a banner of hope for those who find themselves in the fight that I was. God gave me the strength, grace and mercy to fight… and win. There is no way that I can fully show my gratitude and appreciation for a second chance in life, but Operation Gump: A Mile In My Shoes is a start. In October 2012 my wife and I started Operation Gump: A Mile In My Shoes, an annual cancer awareness fund raiser. The commitment of Operation Gump is to run/walk at least one mile each day in the month of October 2013. The month of October is the perfect opportunity to not only raise awareness about breast cancer, but to focus on all cancers that unfortunately have the potential to change one’s life forever.

I proudly carry this torch in an effort to promote good health, raise awareness and most importantly to continue During the time of my treatment, my story was that to motivate those who are in this fight with me. I am running on behalf of three categories of of too many Americans today; I did not have health people: Those who have succumb to any form of insurance. I was able to receive my treatments cancer; those who are currently battling any form through funds provided by the Regional Medical of cancer; and those who are like myself… Center of Orangeburg. I would not be here today to SURVIVORS! tell my story if it were not for the outstanding care provided The 2014 walk will be here soon, start planning to me by the medical staff at now to participate. The purpose of this project is to the Regional Medical center encourage a healthier and more active lifestyle as a and the Mabry Center for preventative measure against cancer and other Cancer Care . disease. Additionally, the public is asked to donate Through the medical efforts of up to $31- that’s $1 for each day/mile during my oncologist Dr. Chris Brunson Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Union Baptist Church 1800 Germany Street, Columbia SC Rev. Henry L. Gregory Glenn, of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Cayce, and Rev. Algerron Williams of Zion Chapel Baptist Church & New Dimensions Church , Columbia SC. He made a reference to people prematurely celebrating your failure in your endeavors before God has finished working with his plans in your life, A Premature Celebration. He brought the message from 1st Sam 30:1-8. And he also said “When there's divine elevation, there’s demonic agitation”. The service was well attended and the male choir from Central Baptist Church provided ministry in song along with the choir from Union Baptist Church. Pastor Edmonds closed out the service with prayer and the benediction.

Welcome A Christian View Magazine was invited to cover a Fort Jackson Welcome Breakfast at the Lexington Municipal Complex. Being a veteran. I (Joe Johnson) feel a special bond with Ft. Jackson. I did my basic training there in 1979 and it’s something that a soldier never forgets. That’s why I attended this special breakfast, it was to meet the man that will be responsible for our young men and women during their basic training. The Greater Columbia and Lexington Chambers of Commerce were the host for this breakfast. It was a welcome breakfast welcoming Brigadier General Bradley A. Becker and Colonel Paul Chamberlain. Brigadier General Becker is now the Commanding General, U.S. Army Training Center at Fort Jackson. He took command in August at a ceremony at Victory Field on Ft. Jackson. He is the 46th commanding general in Fort Jackson history which dates back to 1917 and named for Andrew Jackson, a US Army general and president of the US who was born in South Carolina. General Brad Becker is an exceptional leader who will lead Fort Jackson with distinction. He and his wife Sherri will be great teammates with their community in the greater Columbia area.

P.J. Parrish has been in radio since 1978, after broadcasting school in NC. WPJS 1330am (We Proclaim Jesus Savior) has been on the air since 1990. “I started as a manager and in 1995 became the owner, and I know that this has been God’s assignment. One reason is because I didn’t know anything about Conway SC. I was born in Miami and grew up in the Bahamas Islands. We moved there when I was twelve years old, but returned to Miami once a year until I was 18 then joined the US Army.” “From my childhood I wanted to be a DJ. I was working at WIDU for a guy named West Cook, in Fayetteville NC. They were upgrading from a 1000 watt station to a 5000 watt station. And this station was a 5000 watt station when it went off the air, so Mr. Cook’s idea was to go to Conway and buy the equipment. It was available since the station was off the air ,then he could upgrade his station. He found out that it would be less expensive to buy a new station then to move all this equipment. So God had a plan he Mr. Cook ,was looking all around for someone to run this new station, because he wanted to keep me in Fayetteville with him. But in the end the only person that could go on location was me and that’s how I got to Conway. We put this station back on the air November 1990, and 2015 will be our 25th anniversary. I’m not one of those

people that is always having anniversaries and such; I’m just here to provide a service to the community and serve the Lord”. “We are all gospel all the time, nothing but. If it’s not promoting Christ we don’t play it. We do have talk shows on Wednesdays’ and Fridays, one of the shows is the Whitimore Newsletter Hour of Power, and Let’s talk about it with Mr. Binnie Swan. What’s kept us going is no doubt my Heavenly Father, because there have been times when I didn’t know what to expect, I just didn’t know but 25 years is coming up and I’m still here I can only give God the credit”.

‘This community has been very supportive and they even helped me financially when I had to move this radio station to this present location. I really do appreciate them. Moving a radio station is not like moving an office, there are a lot of things to consider. I am the owner, operator, DJ, janitor, and more. But it’s a blessing to still be here no matter how many hats I have to wear” . “I belong to Cherry Hill Missionary Baptist Church where my pastor is Dr. J. H. Coakley. I was in the male chorus for a while but my duties here at the station made it hard for me to really put my all in to it and if I can’t put my all into something I would rather not do it. My future plans for the station is to purchase land and a building for the station. My most memorable interview was First Lady Michelle Obama. What keeps me going is knowing that God was in it from the beginning. To my listeners please support us and pray for us. All of Gods work is not in the pulpit. Radio is an outreach that reaches thousand daily”. God bless gospel 1330 843-248-6365

A Familiar Look From A Trusted Source In an article a few years ago we wrote about Marbella’s Hat Line, it talked about the increasing numbers of Hat stores popping up with flashy or featuring unrealistically shaped hats. But, three years later there is one trusted hat source in Columbia SC that has stood the test of time, and that is Marbella’s. Mrs. Maryland Spells is the owner of Marbella’s and she recently held her annual fashion show featuring hats from her boutique on Garners Ferry Rd in Columbia, SC. Marbella’s gives customers an identity so that they are

not just wearing another hat from any old department store. On the day of the show before an enthusiastic and largely female crowd whose hats seemed like they should have been in the show. Mrs. Spells had models from 10 years old to 80 wearing hats that left little to the imagination as to how anyone could look stylish in one of her pieces. The audience cheered enthusiastically as each model walked by and at the end of their walk on stage they strolled through the audience for a closer look, great job. There was also a male representative showcasing hats for men. Head 2 Toe hat company had an assortment of head pieces that looked real nice on the male models. There was also a group of young ladies featured wearing hats for young girls and teenagers. They also danced showing off their talents learned from Shaw Model & Talent Agency. Gifts and door prizes were given out and the food, provided by Brookland Conference center was excellent, as usual. Congratulations to Marbella’s and Mrs. Marylyn Spells on an elegant show, looking forward to the next one.
