The inaugural Regional Economics Committee meeting was held on 27 April in Jordan in conjunction with the Regional Assembly. A total of 19 attended the meeting, including airport members, observers, guest speakers from industry organizations and ACI staff. ACI Asia-Pacific Regional Economics Committee aims to provide regional support to members on airport economic matters, and serves as a forum for members to share best practices, discuss challenges and opportunities in matters such as Airport charges, Models of ownership, Financing, Revenue generation, Performance management, Air Cargo etc. The Committee expects to develop an annual work plan of projects that will promote dialogue and enhance understanding of airport economic challenges. The Committee elected Mr. Jeffrey Loke from Singapore Changi Airport as Chair and Mr. Madhukar Dodrajka from Delhi Airport as Vice Chair for a 2-year term.

The Committee developed preliminary work plan concepts at the inaugural meeting and will work through the summer months to further develop the concepts to actionable projects. Preliminary work plan concepts cover the areas of: • • •

The Regional Office works closely with other industry associations to promote professional excellence in airport management and operations. At the meeting, representative from Asia Pacific Travel Retail Association made a presentation on its Responsible Retail Training Programme. The next committee meeting will be held in Q4 2015 in New Delhi, India. 2015 ACI Asia-Pacific HR Best Practice Seminar will be held in Tokyo from 7 -9 October 2015. The event is kindly hosted by Narita International Airport Corporation and organized by the Regional Office. The seminar will provide an excellent learning and networking opportunity for senior HR executives and personnel in the aviation industry to address the growing importance of HR strategic role in airport business and the strong demand for the exchange of HR expertise among members across the regions. This year’s main theme is “Delivering Sustainable Airports through Creative HR” and will discuss the critical roles HR plays in contributing to and supporting the responsible growth of airport business and operations. Please join us in sharing HR best practices and exchange ideas and thoughts among the regional HR community in the heart of the iconic capital of Japan, Tokyo.
