Second Vice President Kerrie Mather Over the years, the ACI Asia-Pacific Regional Assembly, Conference and Exhibition has made its name as one of the most important aviation events in the region, addressing major issues affecting the aviation industry and attracting high level representation from airports and industry partners, including airlines, regulators and suppliers from all over the world. Save the date for 2016 ACI Asia-Pacific Regional Assembly which will be held from April 18 – 20, 2016 in Gold Coast, Australia at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Asia-Pacific Airports grew 10%, Middle Eastern airports grew 22% in July 2015 The summer holiday season boosted passenger traffic in July 2015, with Asia-Pacific and Middle Eastern airports recorded growth of 9.9% and 22.3% respectively. Majority of airports in the region reported positive passenger growth for the month with strong support from international travels. A number of Asia-Pacific airports recorded year on year gains in excess of 25%: Bangalore (BLR) +33%, Phuket (HKT) +28.6%, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi (BKK) +27.1%, Osaka Kansai (KIX) +25.1%, Hyderabad (HYD) +25.1%. The Middle Eastern hub airports all recorded significant gains: Dubai (DXB) +29.5%, Doha (DOH) +24.9%, Abu Dhabi (AUH) 23.3%. Overall, Bangkok Don Muang (DMK) generated the highest increase among major airports at +52.4%.

Air freight continued to be impacted by slowdown across Asian export markets and oil producing economies. In July 2015, freight volumes were flat in Asia-Pacific 0% and the Middle East recorded a decrease of -0.9%. Manila (MNL) delivered the highest growth rate among both region at +15% driven by strong domestic freight volumes. Note : 1. The shift of all pure cargo flights from DXB to DWC was completed during 2014. Hence, for the purpose of this press release, the air freight traffic for DXB and DWC was calculated in aggregate to reflect the overall growth rate for Dubai in July 2015. 2. ACI PaxFlash and FreightFlash statistics are based on a significant sample of airports that provide regular monthly reports to ACI. They represent approximately 60% of total passenger traffic and 70% of total freight traffic worldwide. Commentary, tables and charts are based on preliminary data submitted by participating airports and are therefore subject to change.

The Trinity Forum 2015 Successfully Concluded in Hong Kong

The Trinity Forum 2015 was successfully concluded in Hong Kong with the support from the host, Hong Kong International Airport. ACI Asia-Pacific, once again partnered with ACI World and the Moodie Report in organising this event which has long been recognized as the leading global airport commercial revenues conference in the region. The 3-day event, held from September 16 – 19, attracted over 400 key decisionmakers from around the airport commercial world. The event kicked off with a cocktail evening hosted by the Hong Kong International Airport, JCDecaux and SSP, with wines & spirits sponsored by Pernod Ricard Asia Travel Retail; followed by two full days of high-level discussions on airport commercial issues.

The event attracted a record number of airport representatives this year, over 100 delegates from 44 airports. The second ACI Asia-Pacific Regional Board meeting in 2015 was held preceding the Trinity Forum.

2015 ASQ Forum Concluded in Tianjin, China The 2015 ASQ Forum concluded in Tianjin, China attracted over 160 participants representing 40 airports from countries including Australia, China, India, Japan, Malaysia, Maldives, Taiwan, Uganda, and United Arab Emirates. The event was held from September 22 – 24 for the first time in Tianjin China hosted by Tianjin Binhai International Airport.

The event was kicked off with the official opening by Mr. LI Fuhai, Deputy Manager of People’s Government of Tianjin Municipality, Mr. ZHANG Musheng, Vice General Manager of Capital Airports Holding Company, Mr. YAN Xin, Vice General Manager of Capital Airports Holding Company and General Manager of Tianjin Binhai International Airport and Mr. Antoine Rostworowski, Director, IT and Facilitation of ACI World.

The discussions covered a wide range of topics including the use of terminal beacons and automated measurement of passenger waiting times, cross-study of ACI Economics data and ASQ results, best practices on airport cleanliness with a focus on washrooms and on airport experience for low-cost and charter passengers. Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport and Tianjin Binhai International Airport also shared their experiences on improving service quality.
