ACO FreeDeck – Non adjustable Installation Guide ACO FreeDeck is an advanced roofing and balcony drainage system combining line drainage with point drainage by using an open sided drainage channel system to collect and convey rainwater to drainage points within a raised or suspended deck structure. Connecting channel lengths
Channels Channels are supplied in 0.5m, 1.0m and 2.0m lengths. The channel lengths (figs 1 & 2) simply drop and lock together using a hook and lug principle.
1
Once connected the channels cannot be pulled apart.
2
To separate the connection, channels must be displaced vertically.
Fixing an End Plate
Height Ranges
End Plates End Plates incorporate pressed tangs (fig 3) which push fit into slotted openings (fig 4 & 5) at either end of the channel.

To fit the end plate, align the tangs with corresponding channel slots along one side then twist-in the tangs on the other side.

Forming a corner
Corners Cut opening
Corners are most easily formed by making a butt joint (fig 6). At the point where a channel abuts the side of another channel (fig 7), cut an opening with an angle grinder to assist drainage.
6
7
Protect cuts with an application of cold galvanise paint.
Hint Mitre cut
For mitred corners (fig 8) it is advisable to fit the grating to the channel as a whole unit and then perform the cut. Protect cuts with an application of cold galvanise paint.

Fitting gratings Gratings Gratings are 0.5m and 1.0m long, either mesh or slotted and locate onto the channel side rails (fig 9). Ensure that locking points are aligned with grating lock screws. 9
Fit standard gratings and with a flat blade screwdriver secure gratings (fig 10) with clockwise quarter turn.

Concealed drainage duct Drainage Duct Cut out Cut out
Drainage Duct is a 2.0m long low profile duct designed for concealed drainage beneath built up and walkway surfaces on suspended deck construction. Simply cut to length, the ducts are laid butt jointed.

Rainwater outlet positions
Connections into the side of access frames and channels (figs 11 & 12) require an opening to be cut using an angle grinder, to allow free drainage.
Access Frame Fixed height access frames measuring 450mm x 450mm and 250mm x 250mm consist of a drop in mesh grating within a perforated base frame (fig 13) that locates over an ACO rainwater outlet. 13
Rainwater outlet The larger access frame is sized to allow top access to an ACO rainwater outlet (fig14a) fitted with a flat grating. Alternatively, the smaller access frame is used with a rainwater outlet but fitted without a grating. 14b 14a

Access Frame Extension
Hint Gully type rainwater outlets (fig 14b) without a grating can be located in-line under channels with an opening cut into the sole of the channel.
Access Frame Extensions (fig 15) measuring 450mm x 450mm or 250mm x 250mm provide additional height range of 30mm and 60mm and fit within the frame of the perforated base.
15
The mesh grating is standard for both Access Frame and the Access Frame Extension fittings.

SETTING OUT & INSTALLATION FreeDeck Non Adjustable Example 1 - Setting out from corner A channel system with corner where length multiple is greater than 500mm (e.g. 12.65m) Notes A channel system manufactured in 0.5m, 1m and 2m lengths with grates 0.5m and 1.0m lengths. Length adjustment requires cutting of one channel + grate. Angles are butt joined or mitre cut. To calculate mix of channel lengths, round down metreage to nearest even number (12m) and divide by convenient channel length (2m) then add for: 1 x 1m channel (+ grate) to mitre.
Materials for run of 12.65m 1 x end plate 6 x 2m standard channels + 12 x 1m grates 1 x 1m channel + 1 x 1m grate (to mitre)
Work Sequence 1m channel + 1m grate to mitre
6 x 2m channels + 12 x 1m grates
End plate
Mitred corner
Lay out channels-only working away from corner starting with the 1m length followed by the 6 x 2m lengths. Adjust length of run at the corner by cutting when forming angle. Note. The channel run is overlength therefore adjust difference when cutting for the mitre butt joint at the angle. Fit end plate. Fit and screw-lock standard gratings.

SETTING OUT & INSTALLATION FreeDeck non adjustable Example 2 - Setting out from corner A channel system with corner where length multiple is less than 500mm (e.g. 13.35m) Notes A channel system manufactured in 0.5m, 1m and 2m lengths with grates 0.5m and 1.0m lengths. Length adjustment requires cutting of one channel + grate. Angles are butt joint or mitre cut. To calculate mix of channel lengths, round down metreage to nearest even number (12m) and divide by convenient channel length (2m) then add for: 1 x 2m channel (+ 2 x 1m grate) to mitre.
Materials for run of 13.35m 1 x end plate 6 x 2m standard channels + 12 x 1m grates 1 x 2m channel + 2 x 1m grate (to mitre)
