Function/Fields of application Triplex-K Cleaning pipe (Art. no.: 620352, 620353, 620354, 620355)

Triplex-K-2 Double anti-flood protection system (Art. no.: 620364, 620365, 620366, 620367)

The Triplex-K cleaning pipe is used as a revision opening. It can be fitted in pipes with wastewater free of faeces or containing faeces. The cleaning pipe can be converted into an anti-flood protection system at any time. In accordance with DIN EN 13564-1, following conversions are possible: Anti-flood protection system Anti-flood protection system Anti-flood protection system waste-water free of faeces) Anti-flood protection system containing faeces)

The Triplex-K-2 double anti-flood protection system has two backflow flaps of which one is equipped with an emergency seal. In the event of a backflow, the water from the sewers flows against the last backflow flap, viewed in flow direction. The flap is pressed against the flap sealing ring to seal off the anti-flood protection system. In this condition, drainage via the anti-flood protection system is not possible.

type 0 (for rainwater utilization plants) type 1 (for rainwater utilization plants) type 2 (for rainwater utilization plants or

If this backflow flap is leaking, the second flap takes over the protective function and seals off the anti-flood protection system. The second flap viewed in flow direction can be locked manually by means of the emergency seal. During long periods away from home (e. g. holidays) it is recommended engaging this emergency seal. But remember to release it again when returning home. As per DIN EN 13564, the Triplex-K-2 may only be used for safeguarding rainwater utilization plants or wastewater free of faeces in private households. The following criteria have to be met:

type 3 F (for wastewater free of faeces or

If the cleaning pipe is fitted in wastewater containing faeces, it may later only be converted into an automatic anti-flood protection system (type 3 F).

Triplex-K-0 Single backflow stop (Art. no.: 620356, 620357, 620358, 620359)

The wastewater must be capable of draining away along a natural slope. There must only be a small number of users. Installation must be located in a room with inferior utilisation. The drainage point(s) cannot be used during a backflow situation.

The Triplex-K-0 single backflow stop has an integrated backflow flap. Normally, this flap fits flush against a fitted seal. In the event of a backflow, the water from the sewers flows against the backflow flap. The flap is pressed against the flap sealing ring to seal off the anti-flood protection system. In this condition, drainage via the anti-flood protection system is not possible.

The anti-flood protection system can be converted into an automatic anti-flood protection system type 3F (for description, see above under Triplex-K cleaning pipe).

As per DIN EN 13564, the Triplex-K-0 may only be used for safeguarding rainwater utilization plants. The backflow unit can be converted to anti-flood protection systems type 1, 2 or 3F (for description, see above under Triplex-K cleaning pipe).

Triplex-K-1 Single anti-flood protection system (Art. no.: 620360, 620361, 620362 oder 620363) The Triplex-K-1 single anti-flood protection system has an integrated bakkflow flap and an emergency seal. In the event of a backflow, the water from the sewers flows against the backflow flap. The flap is pressed against the flap sealing ring to seal off the anti-flood protection system. In this condition, drainage via the anti-flood protection system is not possible. With the help of the emergency seal, the flap can in addition be locked manually. As per DIN EN 13564, the Triplex-K-1 may only be used for safeguarding rainwater utilization plants. The anti-flood protection system can be converted to anti-flood protection systems type 2 or 3F (for description, see above under Triplex-K cleaning pipe).

Installation - Installation principles

Installation site

CORRECT

INCORRECT

Drainage objects lying above the backflow level (left figure) must not drain via an anti-flood protection system. In this case, wastewater accumulating above the backflow level could not be drained anymore in case of back-flow. Because of the principle of communicating pipes, the wastewater would escape from the lowest drain points below the backflow level and flood the cellar.

For this reason, all drainage objects fitted above the backflow level have to be connected behind an anti-flood protection system (right figure). In the case of backflow, the downpipe fills up to road level at the most, the anti-flood protection system prevents the wastewater from drawback in lower drainage objects and it thus escapes via the manhole covers.

Gradient The ACO Triplex cleaning pipes/anti-flood protection systems are excellently suited for refurbishment as they only have a minimum proper gradient of 12 mm. The anti-flood protection systems must be fitted in the pipe gradient, the proper gradient is a result of the product construc-

tion. If the pipe gradient is not sufficient, the anti-flood protection system must not be fitted with an inclination (counter gradient), as faults may occur.

Installation in above ground pipe (without shaft system)

1. Fix body in local shaft or freely accessible e. g. at wall. Caution! Do not cast body into concrete. 2. Fit body in flow direction and align horizontally. Body may not be installed tilted - neither to the side nor to the front or to the back. The individual parts (flap, cover etc.) may not be soiled by building materials and thus affected in their functioning.

3. Connect pipes to anti-flood protection system as per relevant installation instructions (plastic, steel, cast iron or stoneware). Caution! Drop in height 12 mm.

4. If the pipe is laid along a wall, two pipe mountings have to be fitted around the pipe shortly before and shortly behind the anti-flood protection system and to be fixed to the wall. For proper operation, the emergency seal (Triplex-K-1 or Triplex-K-2 only) must be open (lever position “1)!

Installation in the base plate (with shaft system)

1. Apply granular sub-grade course to ground.

2. Fit body in flow direction and align horizontally. Body may not be installed tilted - neither to the side nor to the front or to the back.

3. The individual parts (flap, cover etc.) may not be soiled by building materials and thus affected in their functioning.

4. Connect pipes to anti-flood protection system as per relevant installation instructions (plastic, steel, cast iron or stoneware). Caution! Drop in height 12 mm.

5. Continue granular sub-grade course (e. g. sand) above pipe upper edge.

6. In case of need: Fit sealing flange (art. no. 620382) against pressurised water to intermediate section. In order to keep excess or shortage at a minimum, the sealing flange can be fitted stepwise to the various grooves (for height-adjustability of flange, refer to page 13).

7. In case of need: Fit extension piece (art. no. 620381) to body. Lip seal of body must seat properly. In order to achieve a minimum coverage of the WU concrete (impervious to water), the sealing flange (art. no. 620382) can be fitted stepwise to the various grooves.

8. Fit top section to body and align to final height of finished floor level as well as to tile pattern. Continue setting up the floor structure.

9. In case of need: If the cleaning pipe / the anti-flood protection system is to be converted at a later date to an automatic anti-flood protection system Quatrix-K, a cable duct DN 40 has to be fitted to top section during construction phase already (use core bit 50 mm). Caution! H1min changes to 460 mm. The blank cable duct has to be laid with a gradient to the anti-flood protection system. Possible angles have to be carried out with < 45°) . elbows (elbows =

10. Cover can now be fitted to top section. Cover upper side: plastic cover Cover underside: suitable for tile layer (see para 11) Insert reversing plate before tile layer is laid. Grease O-ring before inserting the reversing plate. Fill joint of top section and floor covering with permanently elastic mass. The emergency seal (Triplex-K-1 or Triplex-K-2 only) must be open to operate properly (lever position “1”)!

11. In case of need: Cover (ABS) must be free of grease and very dry. Apply tile adhesive to cover underside and fit floor tiles into cover. Tiles with a thickness up to 10 mm can be used. The max. possible filling height (tile adhesive suitable for plastic + tiles) is 15 mm.
