Get ahead from the beginning...

I FREE ACCESS BOX I The free access box is designed and improved over the years in order to ensure the sows' safety and mimimize agression during feeding. And it has many advantagers: More space The free access box gives more space for sows on a smaller area than other boxes in the market. And the effective area is the same if you compare a free access box with ESF systems, that is designed according to the recommendations from the Pig Research Centre. You are free to choose the system that fits better to your own desires. Easy to operate With a free access box you get a system for loose sows that is easy to operate - for both animals and staff. There is no need for special training boxes for gilts when you use a free access box.

Several dimensions The boxes designed according to the requirements from the Pig Research Centre are also available. With a free access system you are independent of advanced computer and electronic solutions; combined with an ordinary dry feeding system, preferably from Egebjerg's Master Chain series, you have a reliable system for your sows (see page 54). Unique locking systems The free access box is designed with a unique locking system, which prevents two sows coming into the box at the same time. And if it occurs, our flexible tie rod ensures that the sow in the back can always come out and do not suffer. The free access box is the only on the market, that protects the sows so thouroughly. And one more area where the free access box is a step ahead: the locking system makes it possible to lock all the boxes at once - automatically or manually - or just to lock one box.

Minimum maintenance The free access box requires only minimum maintenance.

I MATING AND GESTATION unit I If you consider to make a mating unit for loose sows and at the same time need a new gestation unit, then it is natural to choose a combined mating and gestation unit. This allows you to group the sows at the optimum moment, and you do not need to move around the sows. It will also be easier to maintain control in the stall.

WINCH SYSTEM

Simple and cheap solution ...

A rope and a scraper! A self-tightening winch system is simple and durable with minimum maintenance costs.

Winch system makes life easier If you want to use straws in your stall in order to fulfill the requirements for occupation and rooting materials, then the self-tightening winch system is your garanty for easy removal of the straws out of the channels. Our winch system is simple and reliable with minimum technical maintenance. The scrapers have a guided scraper blade, that always tilts up when returning the scraper, therefore it runs easily over the manure in the channel. You can have up to 3 meters wide channels without concreting iron for the scrapers, since they run on a usual channel bottom. The winch and the motor are mounted on the wall. It means that there are very few parts in the channel, and the system is extremely reliable.

Occupation and rooting material is stipulated by law for all animals in all units. Furthermore there is a claim for roughage for gestant sows. Straw meets the requirements and is probably the most commonnly used. In a gestation unit It is recommended to establish a mechanical scraper system, i.e. practically a winch system, as traditional manure handling according to "pull and drop" principle cannot handle straw. It is easy to establish a winch system, it needs a minimum of maintenance and it can remove all the straw, that falls through the slats.

With our winch system there are no limits in the amount of straw, and therefore it is suitable for loose sows as well as for pens with sick pigs. In the gestation units it is recommended to establish mechanical manure removal, which in reality means the winch system under the slats. The winch system allows you to make frequent manure removal, which reduces ammoniak and odor emission. In combination with the "manure cooling" it can further reduce the emissions and thus you get a good stall environment as well as minimized environment impact.

WELSAFE farrowing pen WELSAFE is our unique farrowing pen for loose nursing sows. The farrowing pen is space-saving and can be built into existing stalls. There is a good space between farrowing crate and creep box, that provides inspection access in the pen and it is not necessary for employees to come in to the sow. At the same time there is also a good space for milk system for piglets. Swivelling sides allow short-term restraining, that reduces piglets' mortality. The sides can also be used as flexible protection during inspection of the sow. Furthermore, there is a height-adjustable barrier plate in the piglets nest.

Combi farrowing pen We have many years of experience in production and development of farrowing pens, including Combi farrowing pen, which is a classic in our program. Combi farrowing pen is especially successful in Norway, because it meets the local requirements about the loose nursing sows on a minimum additional consumption of square meters. The new design with corner-mounted trough contribute further to the optimum function of the Combi farrowing pen.

FT-30 pen

Many years of experience for loose sows

FT-30 pen Out FT-30 pen was modelled based on the Norwegian solution for loose nursing sows. The result is a very flexible pen that can be used from birth to slaughter. The large creep box can be used for piglets up to 25-30 kg. The pen is designed with a transparent lid, so that you can see the piglets without entering the pen. By applying the birth to slaughter system you avoid many transfers of the pigs, which means a lot less cleaning in comparison to traditional production. At the same time you save the pigs from stress, which gives a better daily gain and feed conversion. The pen is particularly well suited for special production of welfare pigs.

Weaning in the farrowing pen

COMBI-feeder can be used for both lactating sows and weaners and is the most useful in the farrowing pens for loose sows, where the sow is moved while the weaners stay in the pen. The system works by means of the pendulum in the tube bottom being removed during the lactating period, so that the feed falls down directly through the tube, and the feed is dosed in a mounted feed dispenser. When the sow is moved, the weaners eat from the trough without water, but with the mounted pendulum, so that the pigs should activate the pendulum to get the feed. The weaners get water through separate water valves. It means that the sow and the weaners use the same feeding system, which helps to reduce the costs. Furthermore you can save on washing, if the pigs stay in the farrowing pen.

When it is desired flexibility and maximum hygiene in the farrowing stall, we can offer solutions with fully drained floor. Our plastic slats system is a particularly flexible slats system, where modules are made of 100% PP-plast or cast iron and can be combined entirely according to your needs.

Manure passage and easy cleaning are secured, as the slats have the same profile as our proven cast iron slats.

Comfortable for both sow and piglets

Plastic is warm and hygienic for the piglets, while the sow, where the load is the highest, has the benefit of the cooling and anti-slip properties of cast iron slats. Combine for ex. with unique drain plate made of cast iron under the sows shoulders to prevent compression damage. Large bearing surface and good thermal conductivity of the drain plate reduce the risk of compression damage and shoulder sores.

A complete system where everything is finalized In line with increased demand for equipment with compact and hard panels on the Scandinavian market, ACO Funki has developed a new equipment range. The increased interest in pens for loose farrowing sows, has also made this particular type of equipment more current. Therefore, we have in cooperation with Danish pig producers developed the new pen equipment system: COMP-O-FLEX®. The first model of Tube-O-Mat® was launched for more than 20 years ago - it was the tube-feeder. Later on the hopper models have appeared, and since then our feeders have been demanded all over the world. The reason is simple - the Egebjerg's feeders ensure funcionality and high quality, that meet your requirements and needs: you will certainly get feed intake from day 1 - and calm animals in the stall.

No doubts, when it comes to feeder... Anders Andersen together with his father, Lars Andersen, owns the farm Sandagergaard south from Kalundborg, Denmark, where they annually produce about 21.000 finishers at 3 locations. In one of the locations there are approx. 15 years old Egebjerg TUBE-O-MAT® tube-feeders. Anders Andersen is saying: "In these stalls, where I implement dry feeding with TUBE-O-MAT®, in 2013 I reduced the feed conversion by 2,42 feed units (FU) per kg growth. And we never have any problems with the feeders.

In the other stalls we work with liquid feeding, and here we have a feed conversion at 2,51 FU. It is also a low feed conversion, but here it is some more technique to be maintained".

Reliable feed intake from day one The shielding is made of transparent plastic, which allows a maximum overview and easy control of the hygiene. It is easily opened without use of any tools. The dosing unit consists of very few parts which ensure a high level of hygiene and easy cleaning. The activating part in stainless grille construction can easily be activated by the pigs and they quickly learn how to operate it. It ensures a reliable feed intake from day one.

The feeding principle considers the natural rooting behavior, as the pigs have to activate the feeder to get feed. Consequently, the trough is cleaned and free of feed residues. Hygiene and health are 1st class.

TUBE-O-MAT速 trough has double drinking bowls allowing the pigs to choose water, dry feed or soaked feed. Especially for finishers we have developed the TUBE-O-MAT速 CLASSIC. It is supplied with an extra strengthened feed outlet pipe thus it can

withstand the large pigs constant activation. The trough of the CLASSIC-model is designed to prevent the feed from getting wet and clumpy and the feed from getting into the water bowls.

I TUBE FEEDER IS THE HIT AGAIN I The simplicity attracts many The original Tube-O-Mat速 - tube model - has always been characterized by its simplicity: a vertical transparent tube, facing down on a flat surface. The tube can move back and forth and thus the dosage can take place by adjusting the distance to the flat surface. Super simple! Many of our customers are glad because of this simplicity, and when we talk about finishers or weaners above 15 kg, it is a very functional and competitive feeder. The vertical tube is perfect to ensure that there is no bridging. The stalls' size and the feeding strategy have changed Tube feeders have for years been accompanied by other types of feeders - with hoppers, where there is a greater volume and easier to dose different mixtures manually. After a number of years with considerable structural development, the stalls' sizes have grown, and it became usual, that feeders are made as section feeding systems, multiphase feeding systems or other types, that can handle different mixtures. At the same time the capacity of the feeding systems have increased, so that there is no more need for the large volumes in the feeders. Low feed consumption with simple tools

Remember - 50 grams daily gives more growth! Super simple tube feeder, with 50 grams more weight growth per day compared to the dry feeders without water (The rolling test).

TUBE-O-MAT® hopper is shaped with almost vertical sides to prevent bridging. The lid is prepared with 3 places for feed inlet for optimization of the filling of the hopper, also when using systems with several lines. The arched, dust repellent shape facilitates a maximum filling of the hopper which allows an exact dosage of the feed, even small quantities. The opening part of the lid makes manual filling and inspection easy. It is transparent which allows light into the hopper so that the feed level is easily inspected, even from a distance without entering the pens.

The design of the feed outlet counteracts penetration of water and moisture.

Large capacity

Reliable damper

The lower part of the outlet is oval and shaped in a way which makes it possible to drill more holes or cut a slot in the feed tube. This ensures a quick and effective draining of feed.

The damper fits tightly to the feed pipe, which prevents feed from accumulating which otherwise affect the function of the damper. The sliding damper can easily be "remote controlled" by for example a broom stick, if it cannot be reached from the feeding passage.

The design of the DRIK-O-MAT® drinking cups gives a number of unique advantages The heaviest thickness of material in the market and closed, bend edges guarantee a very strong drinking cup, which lasts for years. The bend edges also prevents dirt accumulation and injuries. The rounded design ensures that there will be no blind corners and the closed design above prevents dung in the drinking cup and thereby it will always

be clean. The water nipple is placed in the bottom of the drinking cup and releases only the amount of water that is actually drunk. This means considerable water savings and considerable reduction in the quantity of slurry.

DRIK-O-MAT® is delivered with a 23x2 mm water pipe with internal thread and bracket as well as with ½" adjustable drinking nipple in stainless steel. For assembling 6 mm screws are used (see page 69): 2 pcs. for Mini and 3 pcs. for Standard, Multi and Maxi.

WATER LEVEL VALVE MASTER FLOW

Reliable water supply

MASTER FLOW is a membrane-operated valve system, which maintains a constant water level in the trough.

The MASTER FLOW water level valve has two entrances with ½" internal threads for horizontal and vertical water pipes. The water level valve is delivered with a plug in order to be able to close the entry not used. For optimum use we recommend as follows: • Water supply with a prefilter • Water pressure of 2,0 - 2,5 Bar/29 - 36 PSI • The supply pipe - the vertical water pipe from the water level valve to the trough must be at least 80-200 cm • The supply pipe should be placed as far from the feed outlet as possible • Regular cleaning of the supply pipe in order to avoid water contamination Sow trough - see page 21

Our sprinkling system is flexible as the sprinkler nozzles are easily replaced by soaking nozzles when the pen is washed.

Sprinkling For sprinkling a flat fan nozzle is used to form an ellipse shaped sprinkling area of approx. 60 x 200 cm. It produces water drops rather than mist that can drift with the air and disturb the ventilation. The breeze area should not comprise equipment, feeders, resting area and corridor. There should be a dry area of at least 30-50 cm before the rest area, so the pigs do not drag manure and moist in. Soaking When cleaning the pens, the sprinklers are replaced by soaking nozzles with a spread of 10 metres in diametre. Alternatively, an extra soaking string can be established. Spray in short intervals to slowly soak stuck dirt. Attempt to use as little water as possible, so that it is picked up rather than ending in the slurry gutter.

Filter

There should always be attached a fine filter to the sprinkler and soaking system. Furthermore, it’s recommended to attach a reduction valve to ensure a constant and even water pressure (see also first aid to the left).

TIP:

Recommended mounting height: Max 2.20 metres for easy replacement of nozzles.

Get a spare set of nozzles and descale according to a regular scheme Use a demineralisation system reducing the hardness of the water Attach a fine filter to the water string if the nozzles clog because of impurities use a reduction valve and pipes of a suitable dimension to ensure a sufficient and uniform water pressure along the entire water string

The water strings for sprinkling and soaking can be attached to spring wire and suspended between the outer walls. To prevent the pipes form curving down it’s necessary to support the spring wire when the span is more than 6 metres.

Speed fittings

Easy and quick assembling without any use of tools and glue. Hoses and pipes are just pushed to the bottom. After that you make a light pull in order to ensure that the joint holds. Speed fittings can be used for both PE hoses and PVC pipes.

Plastic hoses and pipes

MATERIAL SOLUTION

We place great emphasis on the relevant and optimal selection of materials for every project. Our many years' experience of the harsh environments that equipment and feeding systems are often exposed to means that we are able to offer highly durable, yet competitive solutions. The table below shows the materials and surface treatments that we normally use. Hot galvanisation Hot galvanisation is a zinc-based surface treatment, otherwise known as hot zincing. Hot-dip galvanisation provides good protection against corrosion in most environments and thus a long life. Galvanisation provides high resistance to mechanical wear, while the zinc provides cathodic protection against corrosion. Galvanisation methods and standards are carried out in accordance with DS/EN 1461 ISO 2009 (available on request. Please contact us). Powder coating We offers selected equipment and equipment with a powder-coated finish for use in places where it is appropriate for reasons of animal welfare and working functionality.

For e.g. water pipes. Corrosion resistant. Smooth. A particularly easy-to-clean surface. Withstands normal mains water with a chloride content of up to 75 PPM. For values higher than this, details regarding the water quality should be given for a special offer, possibly based on alternative choice of material. For e.g. U-profiles, troughs. Corrosion resistant. Smooth. A particularly easy-to-clean surface.

Iron - steel

Steel 37-2

For e.g. pipes, square profiles, sheet, flat iron, angle iron and round iron etc.

Cast iron

GGG40. Spheroidal graphite

For cast iron slats. May be subject to galvanic corrosion. An intermediate coating of plastic is therefore always used between slats and foot brackets on equipment.

PVC

Surface 100% new lead-free PVC. Nuance differences may occur

For e.g. panels, U-profiles and floor profiles for CLEAN-O-FLEX® and covering (2-climate). Fittings and pipes. PVC is an extremely strong material that withstands repeated heavy exposure without impaired durability.

LDPE

Low Density Polyethylene black plate 10 and 12 mm

For e.g. plastic plates and in INN-O-FLEX equipment. LDPE is impact-resistant with a high resistance to many solvents.

EPP

Expanded polypropylene is an engineered plastic foam material, suitable for items with wall thickness more than 5 mm

For e.g. creep boxes (INN-O-CORNER). EPP provides high impactresistant and a smooth, easy-to-clean surface that withstands washing with a high-pressure cleaner.

Hot-dip galvanisation

Layer thickness 30-180 µm depending on gauge of metal. A high gauge gives a thicker layer Standard DS/EN 1461 ISO 2009

For e.g. pipes, sheet and profiles. Corrosive attacks are prevented as long as the surface is intact. May be corroded by ammonia. Sharp edges may occur. Slightly rough surface - not easy to clean.

Powder coating

Caking of polymere powder. Layer thickness = approx. 80-100 µm

For selected equipment where appropriate for reasons of animal welfare and working functionality.

Electrogalvanisation

Sendzimir galvanisation. Layer thickness = approx. 17 µm on hoop steel. Approx. 10 µm on screws and bolts

For feed pipes. In particularly harsh environments or where an extra durability is required, stainless steel feed tubes and corners are recommended.
