Introduction A rainforest is a forest with thick foliage and high annual rainfall. There many exotic animals such as omnivores, herbivores and carnivores. There are also many beautiful plants in the rainforest. Where is the Amazon? The Amazon rainforest is located at 0 degrees-15 degrees south latitude to 45 degrees-75 degrees west longitude. It is in the Northern, Southern, and Western Hemispheres. It is in South America. The countries that it is in are Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana. Climate The rainforest has a tropical climate. The average rainfall in the rainforest is over 100 inches, which makes it extremely humid. The average temperature is 27 degrees Celsius, which makes it very hot. Layers The rainforest has four layers and is a habitat for many organisms. The bottom layer is the forest floor. There are very little plants on the bottom floor because there is no sunlight. The next layer is called the understory. There is very little sunlight and plants only
grow 12 feet. The third layer is the canopy. There are a lot of plants and trees on this layer. The last layer is the emergent layer. This is the top layer and receives the most sunlight. Animals that live in the emergent layer are called predators.
Fruit Bat The fruit bat lives in the canopy of the rainforest. It looks like a typical bat. It has webbed fingers, wings and big ears. They are nocturnal. They are prey to humans. Fruit bats are consumers. They eat fruit and flowers. They are also herbivores. They have good sight and hearing.
Yanomami The Yanomami is an indigenous tribe of the rainforest. They get all of their food from the rainforest. They grow fruits and vegetables, hunt and fish. The Yanomami wear very little clothing, usually just a cloth. The Yanomami people live under a common roof called a Shubono built from leaves, vines and trunks.
Orchid
Orchids grow in the rainforest. They vary in color, shape and size. They have three petals and three petal-like sepals. Orchids grow in the understory and canopy of the rainforest.
Human Environment Interaction Humans affect the rainforest by destroy the rainforest by logging, mining, farming, poaching, construction and cattle ranching. This causes soil erosion, water and air pollution, and global warming. It also destroys the Amazon tribes. The rainforest gives us oxygen, food, medicine.
deforestation. They
Movement People in the rainforest go to the market or visit other tribes to trade goods by walking on foot. They also build canoes out of trees and travel on the river.

Conclusion The Amazon Rainforest is amazing because of the many tribes, beautiful plants and interesting animals. Its unique climate provides many resources. Humans should conserve it not destroy it.
