One day in the Amazon Rainforest the everyday life of the animals was carrying on as usual. The avg. temperature was 80 degrees as usual. The climate is hot and humid. The average rainfall per year is 80 inches. The climate zone in the rainforest is tropical wet. The Amazon Rainforest is located in South America. It is in the north western hemispheres and the south west hemispheres. The latitude and longitude range is 0 S 15 S to 75 S 45 S. The countries that contain the rainforest are Brazil,

Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Guyana, Suriname, and French Guyana. The Toucan is an omnivore and is very colorful. It has a large beak and lives near the top of the canopy. It has a large beak to help eat food. He flew to the emergent layer of the rainforest to go to sleep for the night. In the morning he sees trees falling down; he thinks that the animals in his village are chopping down trees to get wood to build their new hut. He doesn’t consider it to be deforestation because they need the resources. Then he swoops down through the Canopy seeing foliage and trees everywhere. He came down to the forest floor seeing plants like the Vinca Minor. The Vinca minor is a small plant that has small blue flowers. It is used as ground cover and lives on the forest floor. He also saw the Abrus pectoralis which is a poisonous plant that has small red berries. It is valued in native jewelry making. It lives on the forest floor. The emergent layer is the top level of the rainforest. It is home to animals like hawks and toucans. The next layer is the canopy which is the second form the top layer. It is the largest layer in the forest. The next layer is the understory. It is home to lots of monkeys ect. The forest floor is the bottom layer of the rainforest. It is home to the jaguar and ant eaters. He flies into his village and into the main building. He said to the sloth “I thought that this week is conservation week.” The Sloth Replied “Yes it is, why are you asking?” “Because, I saw trees falling and I thought that animals from our village were cutting them down for wood for the new building.” The Sloth told the toucan that nobody was too cut down trees for a whole week. The Sloth then told him that he would send out an investigation crew to see what was taking place. The Toucan agreed and they sent an investigation crew to find out what was going wrong. The jaguar is a big cat with black spots on it. It is a carnivore and lives on the forest floor. The jaguar came and told them that he agrees with their plan.

After about three hours the investigation crew came back. They told them that no Indigenous animal to the rainforest was cutting down trees. They said that the animals were large tree eating gorillas. The Sloth, Jaguar and the Toucan all decided that they would ask the gorillas to stop. They didn’t mind if the gorillas were eco-tourists, but if they weren’t then they would have to stop them. They went to find the gorillas. Finally they found the gorillas and told them “Gorillas please stop destroying our habitat.” The Gorillas replied “Creatures of the rainforest, we are nomadic magical gorillas; we have come from our home to your rainforest to eat all of the trees. “ “We are herbivores so do not be alarmed we will not eat you.” “Gorillas, this rainforest is our home and we could not continue to live here if you ate all of the trees” replied the Sloth. The animals kindly asked the gorillas to leave the rainforest. But the Gorillas replied “We do not wish to leave the rainforest because there is a large amount of trees here for us to eat and the climate is just right for us.” The animals decided that they need get rid of the gorillas at another time so they left.

Later in the afternoon Jaguar, Toucan and the Sloth were all deciding what they should do to stop the magical gorillas. They could not decide what to do to stop the magical gorillas from eating all of the trees. Then a few animals came back and told them that they found to big beasts known as magical lions. They told them that the lions were eating animals form other villages and that they would soon come for them. The lions were carnivores and they would eat all of the the animals. No animal in the rainforest is the predator of the lion and all of them are its prey. The culture of the magical lions must be different than the culture in the rainforest because you are not suppose too eat all of the animals. The Toucan went to find the lions. He spotted the lions and flew high up into the canopy so he would be camouflaged. Then he headed back to the village. He told them that he saw two large orange beasts.

The animals had to make a plan to stop the magical lions. Some of the ideas were to adapt, but they decided it would take too long. No organisms in the forest could stop them not the decomposers the producers or consumers. They had very few carnivores and omnivores that could stand up to the lions. If the trees were eaten by the gorillas there would be no plants left to perform photosynthesis. They thought about asking the tikuna tribe to help them. The Tikuna tribe lives in the Amazon rainforest and centers their village around a community building. They would not help because they chop down trees for farming. They then decided to ask theYanomami tribe. The Yanomami lives in large hut called Yanos that can hold up to 400 people. They live in small villages and travel by canoe often. But they couldn’t get them to help “I have a idea” said the Toucan “we can trick the lions into eating the gorillas and the trap the lions.” All of the animals thought that was a good idea so they found the lions and convinced the lions into eating the gorillas. The lions attacked the gorillas and then the animals sprung a trap and the magical lions disappeared. The rainforest was saved. Have you wondered how people get around in the rainforest? This is how; people use small private plains and canoe a lot. People in the rainforest exchange goods with the outside world often. One way that humans in the rainforest effect their environment negatively is mining, cattle ranching and logging. Some resources that they get are wood and food. Thank you for reading my story! Would you have done what the animals did in the story? If your home was getting destroyed would you stop them? I hope that you would thanks for reading!
