03 intelligent remote management// Luix has developed its own system for remote outdoor lighting management, integrating various electronic devices for detection, system control, power regulation, data transmission via the mains power cable and light-to-light and external web-based communication. It also has an intelligent control software application for remote management: SmartLuix. This software enables remote and point-by-point monitoring and control of the lighting installation to programme the functions and light levels, manage switch-on and brightness adjustment commands, view the installation status, control the number of detections, programme maintenance and receive alarms. The SmartLuix application geolocates the street lights and is therefore intuitive and user-friendly.

05 smart cities other IP services// Luix contributes to developing this concept not only by placing its efficient outdoor and industrial lighting technology at the service of public and private entities but also by offering its communications and management infrastructure for implementation of more value-added point-by-point controlled services such as PA systems, video, IP signage, WiFi or urban irrigation. Luix system equipment is compatible with broadband, enabling data, voice and video transmission via an infrastructure which may be 100% PLC or hybrid (PLC + WiFi).

The Luix system enables easy integration of a complete IP video surveillance application developed for monitoring the required areas with point-by-point control and no need for additional wiring, achieving considerable savings as compared to a separate system.
The Luix system enables the network generated between street lights to be used to send a stereo/mono audio signal, received at another point via programmed streaming or messages.
Other application types can also be connected to the network, enabling other services to be provided via the Luix system:
A group of local and remote cameras can be managed safely and easily from any computer. Also, the system has been developed using the latest technology, and a control station for image storing and processing can now be configured via internet or intranet. Its open, flexible architecture and use of open technologies guarantee integration and scalability of cameras and users with very low maintenance costs.
Groups of loudspeakers are configured by area and/or group or by other criteria from a control centre, so that individual messages can later be sent to a loudspeaker, a group of loudspeakers or the entire audio installation.

Salinas de Pamplona Town Council - Navarra Presence detection lighting
In this town in Navarra all the street lighting was renewed; it is a residential area and the streets are quiet at night. The customer achieved energy savings of almost 80% The project consisted of work on 144 150W HPS traditional lantern type street lights and others for roadway lighting, which were all replaced by LED lights equipped with the Luix intelligent system.
Until 10 p.m. the streets are lit at a constant level, and the presence detectors then begin to operate. If no presence is detected the lights work at 30% of their power, increasing to 50-60% when people or vehicles are detected.

52 iBike 50W lights are regulated by motion sensors according to the presence of cyclists and pedestrians, with wide-angle radars, reducing energy consumption.

Wide-angle radars help reduce lighting energy consumption as well as light pollution in the area, because when no presence is detected, lighting level drops to 30%.

Arteca Caucho Metal Indoor lighting replacement and installation of presence detection lighting
In the industrial premises of the company, 140 units 400W lights were replaced by Luix model S100 LED lights. In addition, to enable self-regulation of the lights and since the space is mainly used during daylight hours, wide-angle radar detection technology is complemented by photocells to get the lighting level required according to the natural light available.
With the new system, the company achieved energy savings of more than 75% as compared to the previous installation. Chromatic rendering has been improved as well, enabling improved colour perception and facilitating work at the plant.

06 Isaba Town Council - Navarra Lighting adapted to each street
This municipality had an inefficient street lighting system with lantern-type HPS and mercury vapour lights, which has now been replaced by LED lights with an integrated Luix intelligent system. 160 street lights were replaced, and the next stage is to replace the lights in the newer part of the town. The former installation consumed 122,337 kWh per year and generated 20,314 Kg of CO2.

This project led to energy savings of almost 85%, as power consumption dropped to 37.39 from 248KWh/year per person. The settings are programmed differently depending on the road or street, with minimum light levels adjusted to the characteristics of each one.

Anoeta Town Council - Gipuzkoa Street light replacement, telemanagement and time adjustment
This project consisted on a total of 109 HPS street lights (150W and 250W) in Anoeta town centre, which were all replaced by LED lights.
The replacement lights were models ECA 30, ECA 50, SALINAS 70 and SALINAS 100, and the street lights now automatically adjust their power according to a scheduled timetable. Energy savings of almost 65% as compared to the previous installation, i.e. 83,557 kWh/year.

06 Town Council Gabiria - Gipuzkoa Reductions in energy consumption and maximum lighting efficiency and quality
In the town of Gabiria, the system, which includes a remote control program, monitors the LED lights that replaced the previous highpressure sodium street lights.

The street lights are set to 100% lighting level until 10pm. From then on, the level is reduced to 30% and the presence detectors become active. With this new lighting system, over 80% energy savings and a higher lighting level on the ground were achieved, as well as high level of lighting uniformity.

Orio Campsite - Gipuzkoa Programmed lighting and WiFi network
The project consisted in the installation of 29 nodes, making the first-ever smart campsite. The existing LED lights are regulated according to a curve programmed by the customer, achieving savings of 51% as compared to the installation with no regulation system.
The WiFi network range has been extended, creating two new access points via street lights (with no additional cabling).

06 Hondarribia Marina Lighting replacement and IP audio
The project involved adjustments on 29 250W HPS lights that were over-illuminating spaces with little transit. These were replaced by LED lights equipped with an intelligent presence detection control and IP audio system. Smartluix (our remote management program) enables our customer to adjust the lighting level according to the time of night,

the date and/or presence detection. Energy consumption savings of 85% were achieved (almost 26,000 kWh/year). The IP audio service was implemented at a very low cost, and it is now used as the Hondarribia Marina’s PA system.

Uztárroz Town Council - Navarra Light pollution reduction
The village of Uztárroz renewed its main road lighting with 35 new LED lights. The work was subsidised by the Navarra Government’s Innovation Department. Reducing light pollution was one of the key objectives on designing the lighting, as its location in the Roncal Valley meant it was vital to affect the area’s biodiversity as little as possible, avoiding light dispersion into the upper hemisphere and, in general, to anywhere except the street itself.
The new installation, with 100W LED street lights, replaced the previous 250W mercury vapour lights and has provided energy savings of 60% in comparison to the previous installation, as well as more energy-efficient and highly uniform lighting level with better colour rendering and less light pollution.
