Low Back Program Lower back pain occurs due to several causes such as muscle strain, incorrect posture, overuse and spinal injuries, etc. Most people have reasons for general back pain, but conditions like Osteoarthritis, Herniated Disc, Degenerative Disc, Spondylolisthesis and Spinal Stenosis are never general, so the specific reason behind it must be diagnosed and treated. Our physiotherapists study your medical history, evaluate your current condition, examine problems to determine all major causes of the condition, and then design a fast recovery therapy program. Physical therapists also provide initial education about the problem and guide the patient in daily routine, how to correct body postures during all daily activities, self stretching exercises and various motions to improve nutrition to spinal discs, care of the spine and precautions to make their recovery fast and (alleviate or eliminate) the pain long term.

Orthopedic Rehabilitation Orthopedic Rehabilitation consists of physical therapists diagnosing, managing, and treating disorders and injuries of the musculoskeletal system as well as rehabilitating patients post orthopedic surgeries. This specialty of physical therapy is most often found in the outpatient clinical setting. Orthopedic therapists are trained in the treatment of post operative joints, acute sports injuries, arthritis, and amputations just to name a few. Joint mobilizations, strength training, hot/cold packs, and electrical stimulation are modalities often used to expedite recovery in the orthopedic setting. Those who have suffered injury or disease affecting the muscles, bones, ligaments or tendons of the body will benefit from assessment by a physical therapist specialized in orthopedics.

FCE/ Work Hardening

FCE/ Work Hardening is a Physical Therapy based program designed specifically for clients who are injured at work (on worker's compensation). The primary goal of our FCE/ Work Hardening program is to get the client back to their previous job. Our FCE/ Work Hardening Program is divided into three major parts: Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCEs), Work Conditioning Programs, and Work Hardening Programs.

Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCEs) The Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCEs) objectively determines an individual's current physical capacity and ability to perform work tasks. These types of evaluations are useful to physicians, case managers, insurance adjustors, employers, and/or vocational counselors to determine if an injured worker is able to return to his preinjury job. They are also useful in facilitating a timely closure to worker's compensation claims. The clinicians who administer our FCEs are experts in the field of FCE/ Work Hardening and have extensive experience in performing these evaluations. Components of this test may include:

Musculoskeletal Screen Submaximal cardiovascular stress test Isometric strength testing Dynamic strength testing Positional tolerance testing Job simulation

Work Conditioning Program Work Conditioning is a rehabilitation program that starts with a job goal or training program in mind. The client starts therapy on a threedayperweek, twohourperday basis. Normal progression increases the duration to four days per week and advances to five days per week by the end of the program. During this time period, modalities are still used regularly. The overall goal is to increase strength and stamina through the use of an extensive exercise routine. The treatment plan addresses specific parts of the job that are limited due to injury. Our staff works hard to simulate the aspects of the job that each individual needs to address.

Work Hardening Program Work Hardening is a more extensive version of Work Conditioning. The patient must have a specific job or training goal to participate in this program. The goal of this program is to increase the client’s ability to function in a work setting for eight hours a day, five days a week. This is achieved by starting the program on a fivedaysperweek, fourhourperday regiment with a progression to six hours and finally eight hours per day. The Work Hardening program focuses on decreasing pain through the use of exercise routines to increase strength, endurance, and function.
