Capitol Hill Briefing: Actuaries to Discuss Curbing Health Spending Growth What:
The American Academy of Actuaries will identify major factors that are contributing to the growth in health care spending and discuss options for addressing these cost drivers during a Capitol Hill briefing. According to the most recent census report, there are nearly 46 million uninsured individuals in the United States. Actuaries and other health policy experts have noted that a root cause of this problem is increasing health care spending growth. In 2006, health care spending increased at twice the rate of inflation and continued to grow faster than the economy.
