A Guide for New Student’s

To enhance the student experience...

The University of Bolton Students’ Union (UBSU) The University of Bolton Students’ Union is here to look after your educational, social, welfare and recreational interests. You automatically become a member of the Students’ Union when you enrol with the option to opt out if you wish to do so. We are located in the Chancellor’s Mall, the UBSU is run by students for students. We rely on your support and participation to effectively represent you, suggest new ideas and bring positive changes to make your student experience memorable. The Students’ Union is your main voice and your first point of contact for any concerns or problems you may have. The Students' Union exists to represent all students and is democratically controlled by students at all levels. We will support you if you have a genuine grievance and we are fully committed to making sure you are treated fairly. We have the full backing of the NUS (National Union of Students) and all advice given is professional and independent from the University. You can be sure we are looking after all your needs.

Hi, my name is Adam Johnson and I am your Students’ Union President for 2013 – 2014, and I would like to offer you a warm welcome to the University of Bolton. I am confident you will find us to be a friendly and happy body of students. I studied Sport Development over the past three years, and during that time was involved with the Students’ Union as a Non-Sabbatical Officer. I also captained the Men’s Hockey team and worked part-time in the Union’s Loft Bar. My job as President is to represent you, the students, and I will work together with the other officers to enhance your student experience. Your Union is here for you regardless of ethnicity, age, religion, gender and disability - you are all represented by your Students’ Union. We provide a full range of services and activities such as Sports and Societies, student representation, advice, to earning extra cash and developing employability skills in our Athena Xpress Shop and Loft Bar. We want you to get involved, so call in and see us and make the most of your student time from day one. Remember, my office is always open and I am a friendly kind of guy (so people tell me!) so if you want to discuss any ideas, have any questions please call in for a chat. See you soon Adam
