3D MAMMOGRAMS Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota and Blue Plus (Blue Cross) will be adding 3D mammograms to their standard preventive benefit list and this service will be covered without member cost-sharing when obtained at the in-network level. The benefit change will be effective April 1st, 2019 for both APG’s plans. 2

Implementing changes during the calendar year is consistent with how Blue Cross has implemented other changes to the standard preventive benefit list. The addition of 3D mammograms as a preventive procedure does not alter any other aspect of the mammogram preventive service, such as the frequency limit.

RESOURCES

RECOGNIZING SAFETY THINKING INSIDE THE BOX JEFF ROWTON, APG SAFETY MANAGER There are clear expectations on every organization to provide safe working environments for its workers. We would like to recognize Skagit Publishing in Mount Vernon, Washington. Stuart Hickman, Manager of Production and his Press crew for “thinking inside the box”. Regulations require providing safe walking and working surfaces. This is especially true when working on the elevated platforms of a printing press.

Stuart installed metal ammo boxes on the railings of their DGM 440 press to keep tools and materials neat and orderly in designated areas and out of walkways. Many great ideas on how to safely accomplish tasks have been observed at APG locations. We need to recognize those who go to the effort to promote safety in their facility and share ideas on solving problems and preventing injuries within the APG community.

Send your photos of safety solutions to: jeff.rowton@adamspg.com for a chance to be featured in the next Recognizing Safety.
