As you lead the discussion, be open to the Holy Spirit and what He is doing during the meeting. You may never get beyond one or two questions if they are provoking a great discussion. It may also be that someone in the group needs important ministry because of what the discussion opened in their heart. Take the time to allow the Holy Spirit to minister the person through your group members.
Ice-breaker: What do you like most about yourself or your life?
Facilitator: Have someone read the following Scripture.
Bible Study: Imitating Christ’s Humility – Philippians 2:1-11.
What stands out in your mind most about this passage of Scripture?
How are humility and unity related? What does it mean to consider others better than you? What does it not mean? How can a person look after both their own interests and the interests of others? In case of a conflict of interests, whose interests should have the priority? Why? How is Jesus' life a life of humility? How did He practice His humility in His relationships with people? What are some ways that God would have us to practice humility in our relationships with each other? How can you be both humble and confident at the same time?
God's Ministering Purpose
How would your life be different if you consistently lived by verses 5-11?
Philippians 2:5-11 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a servant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. 9Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
