How does our fellowship with the idols of the world affect our fellowship with God? How should we relate to unbelievers? What is the proper balance?

Have someone read 1 John 2:15-17 and then discuss the following questions:

1 John 2:15-17 (NKJV) Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world--the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.

What are the results of being in love with the world?

How would you compare what the world has to offer with what Jesus has to offer?

What are some of the world's cultural values that seem opposed to the God's values?

Of the various idols that were brought up in tonight's lesson, which ones do you have the most difficult time dealing with in your life?

Of the various cultural values of the world that were brought up in this lesson, which ones seem to affect you the most?

How do you keep from being overpowered by the world's value structure? Or what can you begin to do to keep from being overpowered by the world’s value structure?
