What did the act of serious consideration require in order to be effective?

Possible Answers: Concentration or serious thinking was necessary, other priorities were set aside for a time, and so on.

When has something spurred you on to action – what was your mental and emotional state?

Possible Answers: People get stirred up over different issues: abortion, child abuse, alcoholism, divorce, hunger, and so on.

This stirring up is intended to encourage us towards the kinds of deeds described further on in this passage.

...on toward love...

What inspires you or spurs you on to love God more?

Possible answers: Someone's changed life, a worship time, small group, church service, meaningful prayer, clearer glimpse of His attributes.

What spurs you on to love others?

Possible answers: An example of someone else's love, Jesus' example of love for others, someone in need, the Holy Spirit's prompting, and so on.

List what you can do to stir up others to love God and others.
