As you lead the discussion, be open to the Holy Spirit and what He is doing during the meeting. You may never get beyond one or two questions if they are provoking a great discussion. It may also be that someone in the group needs important ministry because of what the discussion opened in their heart. Take the time to allow the Holy Spirit to minister the person through your group members.
Ice Breaker: As a teenager growing up what did you identify with the most and how did it shape your life?
Bible Study Discussion: Discovering our True Identity in Christ.
Opening Question: What part of your identity changed the most when you became a Christian?
Facilitator: Share the following statement and then the question below.
The focus of this lesson will be on our identity and who we are in Christ. Before we can fully take on a new identity we must be willing to allow our old identity to be crucified before our new one can take hold in our lives.
The identity that we developed before we came to Christ was a result of an accumulation of uncrucified thoughts and unsanctified attitudes that have ruled our lives during our formative years.
What kind of un-crucified thoughts and attitudes ruled your life before you became a Christian and how did they affect you?
Facilitator: Share the following and then have a couple of different individuals read the Scripture References and then ask the questions below.

God’s desire and will for our lives is to translate us or rescue us from the kingdom of darkness and to bring us into the kingdom of His Son.
1 John 5:19 We know that we are of God, & the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one.
Colossians 1:13-14 (NLT) For he has rescued us from the one who rules in the kingdom of darkness, and he has brought us into the Kingdom of his dear Son. 14God has purchased our freedom with his blood and has forgiven all our sins.
