Miss Globe ® brand is a global beauty contest held in two stages as national and international. First stage is Miss Globe National Beauty contests. Second stage is Miss Globe international Beauty Contests. National competitions in the first stage are held once a year in each country by franchise license holders. Preparation stage and application acceptances are completed within three months. Contestants to represent each city are determined by preselections, on behalf of the city they represent they join a 10-day camp and are trained by a choreographer for the stage show. They get ready to perform before the audience in accordance with the determined main theme. Performance, prepared in accordance with the television presentation, takes place as a 130-minute stage show. At the first part, contestants take to the stage with their local clothings, they walk to the microphone and introduce themselves. Afterwards, they appear on stage with classic clothing, sportswear, and bathing suits. Meanwhile , tjury watches the show simultaneously with the audience and they give points in different categories according to the template they have.

T

his way, the contestants who deserve the titles are determined. The show is presented dynamically by a host with a moving, encouraging and exciting tone. During the breaks, loved singers of the country perform live. Thus, viewers both in front of the stage and in front of their televisions, are guaranteed to have an enjoyable time.

In the countries where national Miss Globe contest isn’t held, under the leadership of our representatives, the girl who has the features we formerly announced to the public is determined. The chosen girl acquires the right to use the title of national Miss Globe until the next contest, results are made public before the media. She is crowned and dressed the Miss Globe National sash. Second stage of the contest is international Miss Globe and it includes all countries. It is held once a year. The contestants who deserved the title of Miss Globe national of that year, represent their countries in the grand finale and compete with each other by sharing the same stage. The format of the competition is the same as the national competition. The feature distingushing the grand finale from the national competition is that this time contestants take to the stage with their countries’ national clothings instead of their cities’ clothings. This contest also attracts the intense interest of the international press. Miss Globe Beauty Contest takes place with the participation of girls who turned 17, isn’t older than 24, has never married from different races and cultures worldwide. It is traditionally held every year since 1925. Because it was originated in 1925, it is considered to be the oldest and longest-established of all beauty contests. It also is the creator of beauty contests businesses and the event that developed the application formats.

M

iss Globe International brand, our organization is dedicated this interesting and influencing event to social objectives. This enables us to take responsibility as well as produce benefits for humanity.

Miss Globe Organization dedicated itself to support partnership of the men and women and to promote taking responsibility together. Achieving this is the most important basis in the increase in production assets the prevention of violence. The biggest problem of the world’s population of 6.5 billion is the lack of potable water and food supply. Access to water supplies, water losses during handling and use, and insufficient supply of food production deepens the matter. While all these problems make the life itself harder to live, in the 21st century, violence against women, and drugs pose the biggest problem in the 5/6 of the world. Instead of thinking to solve the real problems, people are showing behavioural disorders; and mauling and overwhelming each other. Violence against women, the main problem observed in male-dominated families, exists together with malnutrition caused by poverty and domestic violence. In such societies, terrorism, theft, drug addiction, fanatics who think they approach God by torturing themselves, and many more unusual behaviours imprison the society. In such societies, mentioning the real problems like access to water resources, increasing the food production is highly unlikely.

VISION VISION

M

iss Globe International brand, after being taken over by Rasim Aydın, redefined its vision, view and goals in compliance with the matters mentioned above, decided to take on social reponsibilities, and announced this notion to the public. It defined its missions to reach the set goals.

Accordingly, what can Miss Globe Organization do for solutions of the problems listed above? We as Miss Globe Organization are a global brand to which the women who have an innate beauty and charm, adopted intelligence, rational and creative thinking show interest. We have representatives, subsidiaries and role models in 162 countries that support our global posture.

EVENT DESCRIPTION OF THE BRAND IS;

Flora Sleeper

18 MISS GLOBE ORGANIZATION | 89 TH EVENT REPO RT

“To organize yearly beauty pageants which are held in two stages as national and international to promote other people’s products and services”.

We believe that, noone should be a prisoner to an attitude of supressing one another where people hide behind the artificial concept of dominence and deficiency because of innate sex differences in men and women. The creation of gender is not to establish superiority over each other but to complete a whole as two different pieces. Like no incomplete machine will work, women and men cannot produce any benefit, either; under the circumstances where they are inequal and do not share the obligations of life regardless of gender. Violence against women cannot be prevented and women cannot be free of domestic violence and social pressure unless they realize their true potentials and attempt to take over equal responsibilities. Women should continuously improve themselves, get rid of the tortures which are claimed to be religious demands, grow their children as productive individuals and so be an example to the society. Because all the species act upon a perception of mauling the weaker. Women can get out of this cycle if and only if they take on social responsibilities and work under equal opportunities with men.

HAS ANYONE BECAME FAMOUS AFTER WINNING THE TITLE OF MISS GLOBE? Hollywood has had many actresses who rose to the fame in the show business by winning the title of Miss Globe. The best known of these actresses is Marilyn Monroe. She was known by her real name Norma Jean Mortenson and worked with her mother at RKA film company. In 1947, at the insistence of her mother, she participated in the beauty festival held in Hollywood and earned this title. Also one of the most popular models of our day, Adriana Lima Jaric, participated in this contest under her maiden name Adriana Francesca Lima. She was first discovered at the age of 13, when she was shopping at a local store in Salvador Bahia, Brasil. When she was 15, she entered the preselections of ‘Miss Globe Brazil®’ organized by Danilo D’Avila Agency in Salvador Bahia. In this contest, she earned the Miss Globe Salvador Bahia title and the crown. She later entered the Super Model contest and continued to advance after enrolling in Ford Models agency. Her biggest fame came when she became one of Victoria’s Secret’s models. WHO FIRST ANNOUNCED THE MISS GLOBE TITLE? Charlie see who announced the first Miss Globe, died in 1950. Following him, Malaysian descent Li Sun maintained the business as the director of ‘Charlie See& Charlie See Associates’. Miss Globe ünvanını ilk duyurusunu yapan Charlie See 1950 de vefat etmiştir. Mr. Li Sun was reknowned thanks to Charlie See to whom he was faithful, and built a reputation in time. He also worked as a dancer in French musical Follies Bergeres, in Broadway. WHERE IS MISS GLOBE INTERNATIONAL® TRADEMARK REGISTERED? While it was only registered in US Trademark and Patent Office in the beginning, with communication and transportation becoming easier, it has become an event that affects masses in other countries, too.

It also is legally registered in Latin America, the European Union, South Africa, and China Trademark and Patent Office. EVENT FORMAT / CHANGES FROM PAST TO PRESENT “Miss Globe” title was initially a title that was given to one person among the participants of the Beauty Festival by the decision of the jury. This title was given meaning with the crown and royal sash worn during the ceremony. This tradition has never changed. After moving to Hollywood, Miss Globe Beauty Pageant has become an open-air festival with broader participation where vehicles are extravagantly decorated, while it started as a salon event. This has been reshaped with the promotion of entertainment business. Formerly, the girls participating in the contest, paraded in front of the jury and the protocol members, forming a cortege. These events attracted so much attention that they became the most important entertainment of the summer season. Girls who participated in the contests, even held torchlight procession at nights. Since the 1950s, the shows were referred as ‘Miss Globe Beauty Pageant’. However, with the luxury hotel chains becoming common, they were held as saloon events to promote the luxuriousness of these hotels, and so they started to be called ‘Globe Beauty Contest’. MAJOR HOTEL CHAINS WHICH HOSTED THE CONTEST The first hotel chains which hosted the final shows of the contest were Hilton and Sheraton. In time, many hotels have opened their doors and halls for the Miss Globe International. THE FOUNDATION OF MISS GLOBE ORGANIZATION In 1970, Miss Globe contest decided to institutionalise and founded Miss Globe Organization.

8 9 TH E V E NT R E P O RT | MISS GLOBE ORGANIZATION 25

Miss Globe Organization, ouside of the contest, focuses on the participants’ careers and taking a more active role in social events. In this process, in compliance with requests from countries, national organizations have started to be established. Thus Miss Globe Organization is structured in two different formats as national and international. While the global center organizes international Miss Globe contests, seperate national organizations in each country organize national contests.

IMPORTANT SUPPORTERS While the USA textile producers supported catwalk shows of the Miss Globe participants to promote their products, casinos in Las Vegas preferred Miss Globe International contests as musical shows to attract more customers and supported the contest for many years. After separating from the USA and becoming global, it was supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Promotion of the countries. In this context, it was also supported by the powerful television stations. TO THE HALL FROM STREETS, TO THE TV SCREENS FROM THE HALL... Initially recorded on 8 mm tapes and shown in cinemas, the ceremony of giving the title and dressing the crown was moved to the television screens with the television broadcasting becoming common. This way, it became an event watched by masses which allowed them to have a nice time. In former years when the leisure opportunities were limited, this event succeeded in highly attracting the large masses that spent time at home.

The content of the show was sometimes presented as a musical show and sometimes as catwalk. These different presentations of the event were formed by the television directors in order to meet the expectations of the television audience. The final shows recorded by RCA Pictures Interna-

tional Inc. until 1985, were presented to the audience by the USA’s long established broadcasting company NBC after that date. In addition, local stations in states raced to broadcast this contest, too. Since 1985, 21st Century FOX has developed a program for the television version of Miss Globe International. During this period, many election formats and methods were tried to attract the audience’s interest in terms of television technology. However, However, apart from being the final scene of the classic coronation, no additions were made. TRANSFER OF RCA GLOBAL ENTERTAINMENT CO. On May 26, 2004 RCA Global Entertainment Co. and ‘Charlie See & Charlie See Associate’ were taken over by Rasim AYDIN. Thus all rights of 34 globally known competition brands, and particularly Miss Globe International, were assigned to Rasim Aydın. This made Rasim Aydın the most important employer in the beauty pageant business. The region also started to be called “Odlar Yurdu”

Azerbaijani Turkish Military General Kerim Kerimoglu

The Man who introduced

World to Space

1917–2003 was an Azerbaijani – Soviet / Russian aerospace engineer and a renowned rocket scientist, one of the founders of the Soviet space industry, and for many years a central figure in the Soviet space program. Despite his prominent role, his identity was kept a secret from the public for most of his career. He was one of the lead architects behind the string of Soviet successes that stunned the world from the late 1950s – from the launch of the first satellite, the Sputnik 1 in 1957, and the first human spaceflight, Yuri Gagarin’s 108-minute trip around the globe aboard the Vostok 1 in 1961, to the first fully automated space docking, of Cosmos 186 and Cosmos 188 in 1967, and the first space stations, the Salyut and Mir series from 1971 to 1991.

The Creator of the

SOVIET

Kerimov was the son of Ali Muharrem Nağı oğlu Kerimov and Fernanda Lusi Kızları Nahçıvan’s Kerimoğlu This section requires expansion. January 2011 Kerim Kerimov was born on November 14, 1917 in a family of an engineer-technologist in Baku, Azerbaijan (then part of the Russian Empire).

After graduation from the Azerbaijan Industrial Institute in 1942, Kerimov continued his education at Dzerzhinsky Artillery Academy, where he committed himself to design and development of rocket systems.

ADULTHOOD An expert in rocket technology, he worked during World War II on the inspection and acceptance of the famous Katyusha rocket launchers. His work was honorable with the Order of the Red Star.

Kerim Kerimov has been involved in Soviet aeronautics from its inception. After World War II, Kerimov worked on the Soviet inter-continental ballistic missile program, rising by 1960 to head the Third Directorate of the Main Directorate of Missile Weapons (GURVO) of the USSR Ministry of Defense that oversaw secret test launches. Along with other rocketry experts, he was sent to Germany in 1946 to collect information on the German V-2 rocket. In 1964 he became head of the newly formed Central 48 MISS GLOBE ORGANIZATION | 89 TH EVENT REPO RT

Directorate of the Space Forces (TsUKOS) of the USSR Ministry of Defense. Following the death of Sergei Korolev in 1966, Kerimov was appointed Chairman of the State Commission on Piloted Flights and headed it for 25 years (1966–1991). He supervised every stage of development and operation of both manned space complexes as well as unmanned interplanetary stations for former Soviet Union. Kerimov was also the Head of Chief Directorate of the Ministry of General Machine Building in 1965-1974, which was engaged in creation of rocket systems.

SOVIET SECRECY As in the case of other Soviet space pioneers, the Soviet authorities for many years refused to disclose Kerimov’s identity to the public. At televised space launchings, cameras always focused on the cosmonauts and not the person to whom they reported their readiness to carry out the mission. As Kerimov was a “secreted general”, he was always hidden from the camera’s view; only his voice was broadcast. His name

remained a secret until era of “glasnost” in Soviet Union, when he was first mentioned in Pravda newspaper in 1987.

RETIREMENT and DEATH After his 1991 retirement, Kerimov was a Consultant to the Main Space Flights Control Centre of the Russian Federal Space Agency, and wrote The Way to Space, a history of the Soviet space program. Kerim Kerimov was a Hero of Socialist Labour, laureate of Stalin, Lenin and State prizes of the Soviet Union, lieutenant-general of Soviet Army. CIVILIZATION of GOBUSTAN

As the results of the work carried out since 1947, about 4000 people and animal paintings on 750 rocks, various signs and tamgas, and containers used for collecting rain water and blood of animal sacrifices have been discovered..

Azerbaijan State territory has some of the remains of great importance in terms of history of humanity. The samples of extracted ruins mentioned and the carvings onto the rocks were scientifically examined and reported to belong to Paleolithic Era which started about 2 million years ago and ended 10.000 years ago from today.

These remains show that Gobustan has been one of the first settlements of human history since Paleolithic Era. Archaeological excavations in Gobustan suggest that human settlement continued during the Bronze Age. Building remains, tools, fragments of pottery, animal bones, weapons and ornaments which belong to a period between 3000-2000 B.C. were excavated. This region, where important traces were found, covers an area in the south-eastern outskirts of Great Caucasus Mountains. It is about 100 km long from North to South and 80 km wide. Average height is 600-700 m. and it covers 4400 hectares. Gobustan was declared as a national park by Azerbaijan government in 1947 and is under protection. 8 9 TH E V E NT R E P O RT | MISS GLOBE ORGANIZATION 51

DMY AdaLIFE project’s commercial motto: •No bank! •No guarantor! •No broker!

Duygu Meltem Yalçınkaya has long been preparing television programs about investment in real estate and other immovable property in Turkey for European countries. Thus, she is recognized and respected by the managements of the local associations formed by the Turks in European countries. She is pursuing a marketing method directed at women in DMY Ada Life project. According to Duygu Meltem Yalçınkaya, women who we define as wives, sisters, mothers, have higher responsibilities compared to man; however, assets are held in the management of men in family. We, too, are calling to men regarding this fact but women don’t have enough insurance in life. Therefore we say, “Consider women’s owning condominiums important and give your mothers, sisters and wives a lasting present. Their need for shelter assurance is higher than yours.” 8 9 TH E V E NT R E P O RT | MISS GLOBE ORGANIZATION 117

In preparation for the crown of Miss Globe International’s 89th queen, gemstones, metallic silver and gold embellishments were used. 14 rings complement each other forming the body of the crown. The largest of these rings is the oval ring in the middle, above the forehead. To ensure that all the rings sparkle, glass prisms which are 0.6 mm in diameter were used. For the oval rings two distinct patterns were designed. These designs were also decorated with glass prisms. Three is a freshly sprouted leaves were made between all oval rings. To make the crown magnificent, five leaves and a flower were added on top of the main ring above the forehead. And on top of this pattern, a symbolic glass ball was placed. 122 MISS GLOBE ORGANIZATION | 89 TH EVENT REPO RT

CAPITAL CITY of BAKU in AZERBAIJAN

OUR VISITS Nar&Sharab When you move from the capital Baku’s city center by car, you first travel along the slopes and reach the beach and move towards Bayrak Square. Passing by the square, you go through a neighborhood which is an old settlement area via a narrow street, first moving parallel to the sea and after a little while you go down and reach the seaside. When you go straight along, you see a big historical mosque on your left. This mosque is “Bibi Heybat Mosque.” After you pass the mosque and follow the road to your left, you see the sign of Sapphire Marine Hotel on a building’s high wall on the right. When you reachthe building, NAR&SHARAB sign greets you.You realize having arrived here from the city center in a short time like 20 minutes. We recommend you to be there at noon latest during active times of summer. If you are late, you may have difficulty finding a lounge chair. Here is also a large pool for relaxation. CHOREOGRAPHER FERHAN ARAL What makes Miss Globe InternationalŽ different from the other contests is the smoothness of the stage show. As an audience you cannot understand how the time passes. Reflecting each country’s color and culture to the audience, ensuring that each beauty queen is clearly understood by the selection committee and in addition, peresenting a show that pleases the audience is the job of Stage Arts Director. It is a considerably hard task to ensure all 130 overly confident contestants who never met each other before act as a team in only four days. Trainings are noisy and girls who prepare for a 3,5-hour stage show, complete the contest without even understanding anything. Ferhan Aral is the name that makes the stage show flow so smoothly in exactly one hour. He is in fact the son of a law professor, Vecihi Aral, and so he firstly studied law under the influence of his father and worked as a lawyer in Istanbul Bar Association. However, because of his interest in stage shows he joined Paris National Academy of Art and his life changed. In Paris, in National Academy of Art, he received education on modern techniques and artistic practices, stage shows, stage dynamics, stage use and configuration, and graduated in 1983. In his six years in Paris, he worked as a stage arts director at the fashion shows of Haute Couture designers and successfully directed these shows. In 1989, he signed an agreement with Festival of Beauty in Hollywood and he is one of the seven directors who had the opportunity to work with Mr. Li Sun . After Mr. Li Sun died in 2007, Mr. Aral continued his work. Since 2004, he has been working with Rasim AYDIN as the executive director of art of the group. Festival of Beauty still directs a network of beauty pageants that involves 157 countries. Festival of Beauty is the owner and director of 39 different brands including Miss Globe, Miss Dream Girl of The Year, Miss Tourism Queen, Miss Cosmopolitan, Miss Bikini, Model of Models, Best Model Queen. From 2007 to 2014, Mr. Aral worked as the general art director and project partner of BG Agency which is centered in Istanbul and has the title of being the first model agency of the country. Also, he gives lectures on stage arts and presentation of fashion and textile products in textile and fashion design departments of Yeditepe University and Isik University. 168 MISS GLOBE ORGANIZATION | 89 TH EVENT REPO RT

... and We Plane. For participants who reached Istanbul the biggest problem was transportation from Istanbul to Baku. As this travel coincided with a time that people were returning from their vacations, it wasn’t always possible to find flights. Therefore, an adventure was again waiting for the contestants: Flying to Ukraine Kiev airport from Istanbul and then to reach Baku with another connection. Or flying from Istanbul to Moscow again to reach Baku with another connection. This came up as a big problem which wasn’t thought of earlier. Thus, airline costs were the most important expenditure item of the competition. Some of our competitors who couldn’t endure this trip gave up and preferred to return to their countries. Official photographer of Miss Globe Organization, Mustafa Egriboz and his team, technical team that was going to broadcast competition internationally, Murat Bozoglu who was our host and writer who was going to script the stage show, had to withdraw from the project because they couldn’t find a flight from Istanbul to Baku as all flights were full. It was a great luck that our other host Hüsniye Muharremova lived in Baku. Although the plan was to host the contest in English and Azerbaijani Turkish 238 MISS GLOBE ORGANIZATION | 89 TH EVENT REPO RT

Comfortable sleep ... simultaneously, second host couldn’t be arranged. This brought with it serious problems in terms of international broadcast of the competition. When the team from Istanbul couldn’t come to Baku to record the contest, AZ TV’s live broadcast vehicle and team filled in this deficiency. Another problem was the national costumes that were the most important part of the contest. Some of the luggages of the contestants got lost during the connection flights so the beautiful national costumes couldn’t reach Baku. Organization team in Baku, Zamiq Yunisov and Z Company 2007 team had to work intensely 24/7 because of all these distruptions Another major problem was the last minute refusal of some competitors’ visa requests from the countries to which Azerbaijan applies visa. Many ways were tried to solve this. Although some ministries said they were going to solve the issue and the documents were arranged, some of these ministries couldn’t even be contacted.Visas were tried to be provided by Consular and Visa operations branch in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan at the last minute.

uring their tough and challenging journeys, all countries’ beauty queens received help for various problems they encountered by staying in touch with each other, as well as with Evren Mutlu and Ayka Aserova who work in Miss Globe Organization’s Baku office, via the closed group on Facebook. Information Processing Manager Özlem Yöndem and her team made an extraordinary effort supervising the meeting of participants at the airport and entrance to camp. We would like to express our thanks once again to the public officials and personnel of the airline companies who helped the beauty queens arrive at Baku and lent their support for this great event to happen by solving even the simplest matters with dedication. 8 9 TH E V E NT R E P O RT | MISS GLOBE ORGANIZATION 241

Our preference, Azerbaijan Airlines

Haydar Aliyev International Airport

The door in Azerbaijan which opens to the world Reason we wanted to organize the contest in Azerbaijan was that the improvement and noticable development of the country in recent years. As an international event, we wanted to contribute to the familiarisation of Azerbaijan, the country who broke its own record by hosting 2012 Eurovision Song Contest and built the biggest event hall of the world in a very short time, to the world. Despite the problems we encountered, we never gave up on our wish. It is known that international events are the most important steps in the country’s integration to the world. Public arrangements made to overcome the problems carry the country to global level in a certain time and the facilitating applications based on the happiness of people make a difference. Another contribution of these travels is that it improves people’s perceptions of different 244 MISS GLOBE ORGANIZATION | 89 TH EVENT REPO RT

This way, beauty queen from all over the world recognized Azerbaijan’s perception about service concept closely. After the long flights from around the world to Istanbul on planes with narrow interior space, we saw that comfort of the large internal volume of the Azerbaijani planes and treats wass recognizable even in the conversations of the beauty queens. Contemporary architecture of Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku which is open to international flights, and the helpful attitude of its personnel were worthy of its name. 8 9 TH E V E NT R E P O RT | MISS GLOBE ORGANIZATION 245

Azerbaijan’s national television station ITV welcomed Miss Globe International pageant beauty queens. Beauty queens were guests of famous TV presenter Salih Bagirov in his morning show YeniGün. They talked about themselves and answer Salih Bagirov’s questions. Rasim Aydın, the president of RCA Global Entertainment Co. that organizes Miss Globe International contests and Turkish 300 MISS GLOBE ORGANIZATION | 89 TH EVENT REPO RT

Pop and RnB singer EJEM (Ecem Uzgör) as the host also joined the program. Uzgör is a Turkish singer, however she lives in England’s capital London and there she has been singing in a band. During the program, upon the request of host Salih Bagirov, she sang the song “Get Me Outta Here”of German-descent American singer Esme Denters who was discovered by Justin Timberlake.

Another interesting guest of the program was Azerbaijani National Turk Boxer Sair Iskenderov. Iskenderov announced that he was among the jury of the international final contest which was to be held on Spetember 14th in Crystal Hall. In the program, Rasim Aydın explained the reasons why they wanted to hold the contest in Azerbaijan. He said, “It was needed to bring projects to draw attention

to this country for the development of tourism potential in Azerbaijan which holds an extraordinary development initiative and grew economically three times in the last five years. We are here to contribute to the promotion of Azerbaijan in the eyes of world countries.” Aydin continued his speech, “ We told our connections in 162 countries: ‘Look, there is an important country on the move. Let’s show this to the world with this cooperation. Our entire team 8 9 TH E V E NT R E P O RT | MISS GLOBE ORGANIZATION 301

looked positively. Thus, the competition’s slogan was ‘ World is going to Azerbaijan.’”“Development is always based on money, but money alone is not possible to solve problems and human resource is important. Risk taking provides innovation and making difference provides development. Today, Azerbaijan strengthened its economy by using its oil sources and its derivatives.” 302 MISS GLOBE ORGANIZATION | 89 TH EVENT REPO RT

“However, it shouldn’t be forgotten that natural resources such as oil are limited resources and surely one day will fall short. During this period, the added value created by the oil should be steered well and country’s future should be built. Tremendous changes in Baku gives us an idea of Mr. President’s vision. It is clearly observed that the parliament works hard to make the necessary legal arrangements for investment.”

“Many foreign investors are flocking to this country by the charm of oil. Khazar Islands Project which is the main sponsor of the contest is a worldwide phenomenon. These are good signs for the future of Azerbaijan. These kind of projects should be continued non-stop.” “However, the potential of this country is not limited to oil. Tourism is an unlimited and never-ending source. This is why, accommodation should be invested on. All Azerbaijanis should take an interest in both international events and the development of service quality.”

Programa konuk olarak Ingilitere’den Emily Coral, Filipinler’den Prıncess Ramos Edilyn, Afrika Guinea’sından Aicha sakho, Sweden’den Kristjana Duhanaj, Georgia’dan, Elen Gamkralidze, Özbekistan’dan Nergis Rahima Davydova, Tatarstan’dan Mariia Kolesnikova, Azerbaycan’ı temsil eden Oksana Rizayeva, Ural’dan Alena Kobiakova, Myanmar’dan Aye Chan Myae, Brazilden Sheislane Hayalla Mexico US ‘dan Jocell Villa, Ukraine’dan Anastassia Kostych, Gambia’dan Mariam Jarra Suriname’dan Giselle Reinberg katıldılar. 8 9 TH E V E NT R E P O RT | MISS GLOBE ORGANIZATION 303

Azerbaıjan Equestrıan Sports Federatıon “In the middle of the last age the interest to various kinds of sport increased all over the world. And surely Azerbaijan took part in this process.” July 26, 1994 the National Great Leader Heydar Aliyev signed the Decree on the establishment of the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Thereby the foundation for development of sports in our country was laid. 1990-93 – the period of establishment and recognition of the National Olympic Committee. A lot of problems concerning the national sport accumulated. And they should be solved. So the National Olympic Committee General Assembly elected Mr. Ilham Aliyev as its chairman. The development and implementation of measures to overcome the crises started. Hereby new Olympic centers meeting international standards appeared, and Olympic movement has widely spread all over the country. October 26, 1996 Equestrian Sports Federation of Azerbaijan Republic (ARAIF) was established. But in March 5, 2009 the Equestrian Sports Federation underwent significant changes. That day the Olympic Committee elected new chairman of the Equestrian Sports Federation. The majority voted for Mr. Elchin Guliyev.Very soon the new Charter was adopted. According to it Equestrian Sports Federation of Azerbaijan Republic (ARAIF) was renamed to Equestrian Federation of Azerbaijanian Republic (ARAF). 316 MISS GLOBE ORGANIZATION | 89 TH EVENT REPO RT

Nowadays we follow the latest tendencies in equestrian sport. ARAF actively develops and supports both classical and non-Olympic disciplines, and the national kind of sport. Don’t forget traditions and stay modern – this is our mission. On this way it was the first achievement of EFAR to become a member of FEI ( Federation Equestre Internationale) in 1997. This is a great, responsible and serious step. New opportunities, new prerequisites, exciting competitions at the highest level, the national games, day-by-day a growing number of viewerssure, we can say that we reached our mission and in this way there was the largest and most important role of Mr. Elchin Guliyev which has been elected as the President of the Equestrian Federation of Azerbaijan for the second time. Mr. Elchin Guliyev after being elected as the President of EFAR in 2009 two important steps more have been taken. Thus, EFAR in February 2010 was elected member to IFHA ( International Federation of Horseracing Authorities) and in December 2013 to FIP (Federation Internationale Polo). In 2014 Mr. Elchin Guliyev was elected as the President of EFAR for the second time.

Haydar Aliyev CULTURE CENTER Haydar Aliyev Cultural Center was certainly one of the places worth seeing for the beauty queens. Inspired by a mythological story about the extraordinary surge of Caspian Sea waves, the design of the building adds significant value to Baku’s new era architecture. Named after Haydar Aliyev*, last of the three important leaders of the country, is a masterpiece in terms of both functionality and aesthetics. Designer of the building, proceeding by leaving significant marks in the world of architecture, is Iraqi architect Ms. Zaha Halid. Zahir Khalid continues her architectural work in her office in London. While touring the city, Miss Globe national beauty queens saw the building from outside and they wanted to visit this building specifically. After receiving the necessary permissions, this important visit took place. Beauty queens visited the museum and the great hall. Here, they recieved information about the building and its architecture, the exhibit and the historical and political success of Haydar Aliyev. *Haydar Aliyev / Date of birth: May 10, 1923 - Date of death Aralık 12, 2003

Heydar Aliyev Cultural Center really deserves the praise and many people from other countries envy the architecture. The building worthy of the country’s third President and political leader Haydar Aliyev, is designed with an inspiration of a mythological story about the extraordinary surge of Caspian Sea waves. Designed by the popular name of modern architecture and a phenomenon, Iraqi-born architect Zaha Halid, the building bears the stamp of her fluent style on oval patterns. President of the company which constructed the building had also stated that Haydar Aliyev Cultual Center was one of the most difficult works of the world in terms of structural tecniques. A broadcast prepared by the Discovery Channel during construction is shown frequently. Material used on the building is composit and each part is unique. The outer shell is composed of more than 15.000 panels in different sizes, shapes and curved surfaces. These panels were mounted on the space frame system one by one, just like Lego pieces. The construction had a time commitment and it was winter during the construction. So the production company had to cope with not only the difficult mounting process but also the challenging winter conditions. Despite these challenges, they succeeded to finish this masterpiece of 101 thousand square meters in a short time. Zaha Halid is world’s first and only woman architect to receive the Pritzker Architecture Prize, which is considered as architecture’s Nobel. Those who know her personally start off their words by saying, “She is an interesting woman.” Although she is thought to be bossy and distant, her admirable projects are followed jealously by a lot of people. 424 MISS GLOBE ORGANIZATION | 89 TH EVENT REPO RT
