The First Five
“Adventurous. Rewarding. Life-changing,” those are the three words that Alexandra Dunham chose to explain what her first five months at Adaptive Business Group have been like. Expressing that before Adaptive, her move to NYC seemed a bit lonely and lacked some purpose, but now she says she’s “opened a door she hopes never closes.” Six months ago, Alex was looking for something new, a change from her position in management with Steve Madden. She loved the idea of leading and growing her own business, so to speak, as that was the environment she was in then. Somewhere she could be self-motivated, organized, set timelines and got to have freedom. “It is a unique opportunity to get to be a part of a bigger picture but still run your own business,” she explained to me. It was pretty fateful though, that she ended up in recruitment, only under the circumstances that her recruiter at the time brought it up as they had so much in common. So, she went ahead and pursued it a bit further. The culture, work-life balance, travel capabilities and general welcoming nature of Adaptive won Alex over, and she joined the team on July 29, 2019. From the get-go, the training process stood out to her, as it was organized and streamlined without being overwhelming and boring. Understanding was guaranteed, and success ensured, she felt, with the time and attention that was given to her. Moreover, the team was kind and involved, from an office to a global level, and she told me that she felt a part of the family right away. Joining the New York office was a dream for Alex, being a blessing in itself to just simply be in the city. Inspired every day by the tenacity and uniqueness of everyone’s work ethic there, she is motivated to work as hard as possible and be the best person she can be in the role. She is an avid lover of the digital space and the chase of new business. Research, making matches, and connecting are her bread and butter, and the highlight of any day for her is getting to “brag” on new business calls about just how confident she is what Adaptive will be able to do for their company. Not only was she enthusiastic when telling me this, but the very next day Alex signed a new client, just reinforcing she is a true force, where passion meets hard work.
She was challenged initially, as most anyone is, but specifically for her, it was hard to “trust the process”. Ray was integral in her being able to step back and realize that each day’s work pays off, and things will come full circle. Alex came to this independently when she signed her first client, and actually, sending out that email to Global is her most joy-filled moment to date. Exuding gratitude and enthusiasm about the way in which Adaptive has made her life more structured and well-rounded, as well as given her a whole new wealth of knowledge, it is so transparent that Alex is thriving at Adaptive. The plans for 2020? Hitting Senior Consultant by the end of the year, and hopefully running a marathon at some point. Well Adaptive is competitive, she cherishes that a win for one is a win for all. Congrats on all your wins so far, Alex! Here’s to many more!!
