This basemap is the starting point for our analysis of the site. It shows streets, pavement, and parcels.
alysis
This semester we had the opportunity to choose from three sites in Cincinnati to potentially develop for residential use. The sites were all parks, so that we would have to work with changes in topography, their views, and their accessibility. We chose Mt. Airy forest as our project site. Over the course of the semester we have performed detailed context & site analyses, including but not limited to, topographic and soil maps, climatic analysis, vegetation and infrastructure maps, location analysis and traffic patterns, and more.

We will use all of the information that we gathered in order to “develop a site, taking in to account the elevation, how much clearing of the land you would have to perform in the dense vegetation, and what kind of soil you can or cannot build on.
East End Neighborhood Analysis SPRING 2015 STUDIO
East End is a neighborhood in Cincinnati stretching seven miles along the Ohio River, once home to Cincinnati’s manufaturing district. There are many vacant buildings and lots, so my group chose this neighborhood to analyze in hopes we would have some creative ideas to improve it.

East End Land Cover Map
As a part of our analysis, we took a look at the land cover of our area. The physical ground is mostly cleared land and woodlands.
East End Zoning Map
In regards to the zoning of East End, you can see it is legally designated to be used for manufacturing and single family. It was intersting to compare a technical, legal analysis of the land to the actual use of the space. There has been a rapid decline in population density in the last forty years, and housing vacancy has gone up significantly.
East End Neighborhood Analysis SPRING 2015 STUDIO Business Type Model of East End Central Business District
These 3-D models are current representations of buildings in East End, the CBD specifically featured above. In order to bring improvement to the area, we chose to utilize the vacant building second from the left, directly next to the popular Eli’s BBQ, and turn it in to an ice cream shop.

Hand and photoshop rendered improvement model
Our group really wanted to breathe life back in to the neighborhood. Capitalizing on the popularity and close proximity of Eli’s BBQ, We wanted to create not only a private space where people can buy ice cream and stimulate the local economy, but a public recreational space in which people can play and interact.
3-D Sketch- Up Improvement Model for area
This improvement model also includes a public garden, a soccer field, as well as park benches and tables. While we wanted to attract people from other neighborhoods, we also wanted to give back to East End by creating a space in which it’s current residents will benefit.

GIS Work Map of Colorado Counties
Geoprocessing: for this assignment I built a study area for two rapidly growing counties in Colorado: Denver and Jefferson counties. To make this map, I had to use these geoprocessing features: create new feature classes, select by location, merge, and clip to create the study area features.
Cluster Ananlysis of Larceny Crimes in Pittsburgh
I made a cluster analysis in order to see the patterns of crime in certain areas of Pittsburgh. This is specifically useful in data mining, searching for interesting or useful patterns in large, complicated datasets.
GIS Work Cincinnati Bus Routes & Stops
I made this map in order to have a visual representation of the bus routes and number of bus stops in different neighborhoods throughout Cincinnati. This is specifically helpful in looking at which neighborhoods need more bus stops, and if more routes need to be implemented. In order to get this information I had to locate the shapefiles and download them from the internet, and apply them to the map of Cincinnati. I then created a gradient to display the range of bus stop densities throughout the neighborhoods.
