A Railway Station is no longer just a place to book tickets and board or deboard a train. It has become one of the leading service-oriented industries in the country. Modernization of railway infrastructure not just cater to the present demands, but to accommodate the projected needs of future generations in the next 40 years – which also includes considerable increase in footfall Railway stations are generally the most crowded part of the city. This overcrowding causes numerous mishapenings and casualties, and in the years to come the situation is expected to worsen. So the main design challenge in this project is to tackle problem of crowd and creating a effective circulataionin the site.

RAILPORT RAILPORT
CONCEPT Indian Railways has over 1,20,000 km of track laid . To control the traffic in these tracks numerous systems are followed. The crossing is one such method to control the flow of trains to various routes without being intercepted by trains coming from other direction.

FLEXIBLE SPACES
Inspired by the crossing system of the railways to control train traffic, the moving FOB is proposed to control crowd traffic. Use of AI and Sensors to detect the conflict zones and addition of new space to clear that zone.
Conventional: People waiting in platform
Conflict zone created during peak hours
Conflict zone relieved by addition of new space
The fobs are equipped with the digital wall to help the users to get the real time update on train timing and other informations. Proposal: Waiting area above the platform with arrival/departure display screens.
A cantilevered moving FOB is proposed which will be connecting either of the bridge depending on the foot fall on each space.

02 HOSPITAL
Location: Brahmavar, Udupi Site area : 2.9 acres
To design a 125 bed hospital with state of art facilities which offers both general and specialised treatment. The design objective was to understand, analyse and design considering various aspects linked to hospital design and campus planning. Hospitals being a complex building type comprising of wide range of services and functional units, the design challenge was to evolve a completely functional design for all the required spaces solving issues and problems in the hospitals. Also, the idea was to create a spatial charater to the hospital whereby the users can experience a healing environment affecting the mental and physical conditions of the patients.

To determine optimum glazing ratio for each orientation seperately.
Site Feature: Two huge banyan trees in the site which has to be retained. Sustainability.
Green Buffer: Connecting the banyans, a green buffer is created. - Acts as noise buffer between crowded OPDs and casualty. - Healing environment - Stack effect

‘Living small, yet living big’
Volume Zero Tiny House Competition Brief Design team of 2
Our humble abodes are being redefined with every passing day. The world is changing constantly, and along with it, our homes are seeing us spend more time within them. The built form of a home is evolving rapidly; its design adapting to various other needs that were not limited to this space before. The Tiny House Movement seeks to revamp the notions of a home, one’s personal sanctuary through innovations in design and technology. The project aims to celebrate individuality, redefine sustainability and exalt simple, resourceful living. The Movement is also a platform to explore the avenues of mobile living spaces and the freedom they would offer.

CONCEPT
LAYOUT ARRANGEMENTS
The tiny house uses the method of pneumatic structure for the exterior. The fabric can be easily compressed and kept in the platform of the tesla cyber truck. A specially designed deck will protrude from the truck. The deck is equipped with foldable furniture and service lines. Flexible plan makes efficient use of the space available. This can be used as for adventuresome individual, long distance truck drivers, also for space travelers.

04 CENTRAL VISTA
Location: Delhi, India
The Central Vista was designed as the capital of British India and envisioned to be the ‘living centre of administration’. It was inaugurated in 1931, with only five important buildings, the avenue and a monument completed: the Viceroy’s xHouse, now Rashtrapati Bhavan, the Secretariats - North and South Blocks, the Council House, now Parliament House, the Record Office, now the National Archives and the All India War Memorial, now India Gate. Additional buildings were built post-independence, to meet the demands of time without an overarching architectural vision for the Vista. Some military barracks, originally built as temporary structures during World War II, continue to be used as offices spread across approximately 90 acres of precious land in the Central Vista. Today, the Central Vista houses only 22 out of the 51 Ministries of the Government of India, due to lack of adequate office spaces. The public space and landscape of the Vista were not designed for heavy public use and are quite stressed. A comprehensive upgrade of facilities and infrastructure is needed to improve public space and to assist the administrative and legislative functions of the Government of India. The design challenge is redevelop and strengthen the Central Vista as the administration hub of the country, a grand public space reviving the character and the heritage of the space while incorporating modern design principles for the rapidly developing country.

VIEW ROSE ANALYSIS
VISION ‘National in heart, International in spirit’ By allowing the public to interact with iconic buildings along with the improved facilities in the area, the people will have a deeper appreciation of the space due to how approachable it is. Rather than the buildings around being an exhibit piece, the buildings can be used to portray the story of India and its Development.
India Gate
Our approach in planning the area with the focus of streamlining the Govt. activity by improving the inter-departmental work as a response to the grouping of Ministries, and prioritizing transparency aids our vision of the space.

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
Analysing the existing conditions of the site, the green open public space despite its potential to become a successful public space with the amount of visitors and tourists the area invites, it is documented not to be lively space and lacks the human oriented public design principles. Delineated plot for detailing For public spaces to become successful, the built structure surrounding it should be public or some activities should happen inviting people to the space, that Being the major reason for the failure of the space as mentioned in existing condition analysis.
TRANSPARENCY: With the built structure around being highly private ministry zones, aiming to bring in a transparency between these two zones would solve the issue to have a highly successful public space.

The map shows the social media impressions created on different landmarks and strategic locations on the central vista region using #hashtags. It is quantified that the India Gate area and the park near Rashtrapati Bhavan has higher social media dominance over other areas.
