Let’s shop
WORDS Em Worthington Our blood runs hot and our eyes start popping — Wohlers, we’re ready to start our engines!
We love to shop, and there’s one place that continuously delivers the treasures to fill our homes and hearts. Since 1988, this iconic family business has been bringing joy to South Australians with stunning furniture, colourful homewares, kitchenware, gifts, handbags, jewellery and clothing. With stores in Richmond, Tanunda and Mount Barker (plus a new store in Victor Harbor in 2023), Wohlers is our regular for a quick spree to spruce up our homes. Take a squiz at our latest loot…
Hayley I can’t get enough of the creations from Winestains, and a rustic cheeseboard is coming home with me today. Their picnic and platter magic is handcrafted in the Barossa, using recycled wine barrels — so, let’s graze!
I’ll admit I’m a crazy plant lady, but I’ve had a few watering casualties. That’s where Wohlers’ artificial plant range is ah-maze! I grabbed these Dried Peony Hydrangeas to brighten up my coffee table — they’re fuss-free and are a great deco if you have anyone with allergies at home. Lauren OMG, I can already hear Sofia squealing with delight over these squishy friends from Jiggle & Giggle! I mean, who doesn’t need a pet leopard and a fluffy alpaca in their life? So cute, I can’t wait to see her face!
I sat down to test out the IMG Portsea Corner Modular, and I never want to get up again. Wohlers’ huge range comes in heaps of styles, colours and most can be configured to suit your space. The couch I found is super comfy, looks great and will be easy to wipe over should any small person get to it with crayons or mashed banana hands.
Millie I love a completed look and this Endeavour bed with Anna Chandler cushions ticks the box for me! The classic design and extra storage under the bed will go perfectly in my new house. I can’t wait to flick on the lamp and snuggle up with a good book in my new happy place!
And the best way to indulge my tea obsession is with a set of designer tea cups from Maxwell & Williams. I swear tea tastes better when you drink it from a proper tea cup!
We’re all shopped up, ready to intro these pieces to their new homes… and convince our significant others that these were, in fact, necessary purchases. Thanks, Wohlers!
Em These beauties make my home feel extra-homely! SA artist Sandra Gale’s delightful candles are part of my nightly ritual to unwind, and they’re made more beautiful with her vibrant artwork looking back at me. Love, love, love!
And I found a stunning black arch mirror, which is also right up my alley. The perfect statement piece for my hallway!

WORDS Millie Looker PHOTOS Wayne Pearson Why smell like someone else when you can smell like YOU.
There is so much power in smell. Just a tiny whiff of a particular scent and you can be transported back to a day gone by. Elke Weeks has harnessed this sensory magic and turned it into a DIY candle and perfume studio in Kensington — introducing Red Rosie Scent Design Studio.
“I’m fascinated by the connection between scent, memories and emotions. Helping people to create a unique fragrance that makes them happy isn’t work for me — it’s a pleasure,” Elke beams.
Elke’s vibrant studio is filled with every scent you could dream of, and it’s open for anyone and everyone (beginners included!) to spend an hour or two creating their ideal perfume or candle. She’ll step you through the process and a little of the science behind it, and the rest is up to you — so, get creative!
A SPRITZ HERE, A SPRAY THERE Perfume has the power to leave a mark on the people around you — so make it a good one! The perfume workshop takes around two-and-a-half hours to complete and is a more intense and comprehensive session — but with a complimentary glass of bubbles to sip on, the time will fly by. You’ll leave with a lot more info about the art of perfume than you walked in with!
Elke will offer advice throughout the class and has carefully labelled all the scents under different perfume families, making it simple to distinguish between top, middle and base notes, and natural and manufactured materials. Anyone can take part, with aftershave on offer too — just start simple, then build your fragrance into something dreamy.
BURN IT UP Your home is a reflection of you, so of course you want it to smell as delightful as you do! The candle workshops are all about having fun and experimenting, with 48 scents to mix and sniff until you find the perfect blend.
This class takes about an hour to complete, with a glass of bubbles thrown in for good measure, and by the end, you’ll have your very own candle waiting for collection.
IT’S THE LITTLE THINGS The little things make all the difference, and Elke has thought of them all! “Once you’ve created your candle or perfume, we record it for you in your own file — so when you run out, you can reorder and we’ll have it waiting for you to collect with your very own personalised label,” Elke says.
MAKE IT A GROUP HANG Red Rosie Studio is open for anyone to book — so you can go solo, or take one or two friends. Or, in a fun twist, you can also book up to 24 people for a candle workshop, complete with champagne. Sounds like the perfect birthday or hen’s party to me! These workshops are also a great way to get your work team together for a midweek team building sesh.
You know what you like better than anyone else on the planet — so, use that power and create something that makes your day with every sniff.

An inspiring boutique homewares store is one thing. One that teaches you style is a whole other ball game!
Specialising in boho coastal vibes, Pebble & Palm is rewriting the way you style your spaces. On Sturt Road in Warradale, this store is brimming with beautiful furniture, homewares, decor, fashion and accessories. But more than that, you’ll find a unique opportunity to learn the tricks of the trade.
“Shopping with us is like a warm hug! We don’t want you just to walk in and buy a cushion — it’s more of a personalised experience where our team will help you find statement pieces and everyday gems to blend with your treasured pieces,” says Amanda Ewbank, Interior Designer and owner of Pebble & Palm.
“But the game changer is that we also run interior styling workshops, so you can learn the tips that designers use to create gorgeous spaces and apply them in your own home,” Amanda explains.
These super fun monthly styling workshops are more of a night out than a classroom feel, with wine, cheese and plenty of banter rolled in. “We chat through styling, provide you with materials to create your own mood board and mull over any areas you need help with. You can bring in photos of spaces you’d like tips on, plus, you get a voucher so you can take home some new goodies,” Amanda says.
And when it comes to what’s hot, Amanda has one rule. “We don’t talk about following trends — we have a much more relaxed approach to style and we love helping you to find yours. Your space is an extension of you, so we help you apply some tricks to make the home or office uniquely yours.”
Amanda and her team are huge supporters of local creatives, with South Australian makers and artists lining the shelves. “We’re so proud to help support other small business owners, especially when they’re so talented! We offer carefully chosen pieces, like handmade clay earrings from Island Home Living, sweet scents from Nomad Candle Co., luscious body care from al.ive, organic bath soaks from Nature Folk, incredible prints from Ella Designs and so much more!”
When you get an itch to spice it up, bring things together or completely overhaul your space, pop past Pebble & Palm and meet your fairy godmothers. They’re ready to get you superstylin’!

We’ve been everywhere, man!
WORDS Hayley Pearson
You may have seen us around town.
Our job takes us all over South Australia, and with three children between us who sometimes come along for the ride, safety is our number one priority! BMW’s Frontal Collision Warning, Active Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and BMW Assist eCall™ give us peace of mind when travelling long distances.
This summer, pack the car and say hello to SA, like we do. Here are some of our favourite spots we’ve visited this year…
North Beach, Wallaroo It’s one of the only remaining beaches in SA where you can drive your car onto the sand, so it helps when your car has a big booty! The X3 has a 550L luggage capacity, the X4 has 525L, X5 has 650L and X7 offers a whopping 750L — which means you can fit all the towels, snorkels, boogie boards and sun shades in the boot, ready for a day out on this spectacular two-kilometre stretch of coastline. Maxwells Wines, McLaren Vale For a picturesque driving experience that’s close to home, you can’t go past the Adelaide Hills and McLaren Vale wine regions. Winding your way through Stirling, Meadows and Willunga, you’ll end up at this five-star winery and restaurant on top of the hill in the Vale. And for extra safety on those country roads, these BMWs have a Heads Up display, which means you never have to take your eyes off the road.
Atlantis, Port Elliot Just an hour from Adelaide, Atlantis is a few steps from Horseshoe Bay and all the best Port Elliot shops! It has four bedrooms (sleeping ten people), and offers everything for the best home-awayfrom-home holiday — summer or winter! With off-road parking and a giant garage, the whole fam is sorted. And just for fun on Port Elliot’s main street, try the BMW Parking Assistant Plus, where the car parks itself for you — it’s a thrill!
Emu Bay, Kangaroo Island Driving yourself on holiday gives you the freedom to always be in control and there's no waiting around for tour groups or taxis. Kangaroo Island is Australia’s third largest island, so a car is essential if you want to see as much as possible. And don’t worry about getting lost, The BMW Live Cockpit Professional with navigation function has always got us from A to B without a worry.
Alkina Luxury Accommodation, Barossa Who’d have thought Adelaide BMW’s electric iX, iX3 and i4 could get you to the Barossa and back in one charge? A great way to care for the environment, you can charge her up at home overnight. Our fully-charged iX40 meant we had 420 kilometres of freedom, so naturally, we beelined for Alkina’s luxury accommodation in the heart of the Barossa Valley and back again — with kilometres to spare.
Pop into Adelaide BMW to find out more about these amazing wheels — and you’ll be on the road to saying hello SA in no time!
PACK THE CAR AND SAY HELLO TO SA, LIKE WE DO.
