Olayemi Adeleke was born on 13th March, 1964 to Chief Samson

Akinbobola and Mrs. Rachael Akinbobola at the University College Hospital (U.C.H) St. Pancras, London U.K. She lived in London until she relocated with her mother to Israel, where her father was studying Engineering. Her birth and survival as a baby were nothing short of the miraculous hand of God.

When they got back to Nigeria, Olayemi attended different nursery and primary schools due to the nature of her father’s job which required regular transfers to different cites. She attended St Clare’s Osogbo and U.M.C demonstration school. Oke Ado, Ibadan amongst others. In 1974, at the age of 9, she commenced secondary education at Fiwasaye Girls Grammar School, Akure.

During her secondary school years at Fiwasaye in 1976, Olayemi had a profound encounter with the Lord at a Christian Union meeting, where she committed her life to Christ. This moment became the bedrock upon which her years of Christian service, missions, and experiences were built. It laid the foundation for the steadfast Christian leader she is today.

After completing secondary school in 1979, she spent two years at The International School, Ibadan. In 1981, she embarked on a post-secondary training course in Secretarial & Office Administration at the Civil Service Training School, followed by immediate employment upon completion of the course.

In 1983, at the age of 19, Olayemi entered into courtship with Andrew Ademola Adeleke, her close friend, cell group leader, and mentor. Their relationship was deeply rooted in faith, ordained by God, and guided by the Holy Spirit. From the outset, they recognized it as a divine connection, sustained and nurtured through prayer. Their understanding of God’s purpose for bringing them together became evident in the unfolding of events over the years.

A MOVE OF DESTINY

Olayemi and Andrew courted for five years while worshiping at Oritamefa Baptist Church, Ibadan, and actively participating in the Gospel Group. Unbeknownst to them at the time, their involvement provided crucial training for their future roles in pastoral ministry and church planting.

On October 1st, 1988, Olayemi, aged 24 at the time, exchanged vows with Andrew at St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Okeigbo, her family’s church. Shortly after their marriage in February 1989, Olayemi, who was two months pregnant, relocated to London as a British citizen. Initially intended as a temporary move for childbirth, divine intervention altered their plans. Andrew joined her in London in July 1989, and they continued their life together in the UK.

Their first child, Aaron Adeleke, was born in September 1989 when Olayemi was 25, followed by their second son, Philemon Adeleke, in January 1993, when she was 29. Olayemi worked as a Personal Assistant in various organizations, including UCH, UCL, Esso, Onyx, and NYSCC. Their spiritual journey led them to the Redeemed Christian Church of God at Marylebone/Angel in 1990, where Pastor Andrew served in pastoral leadership before they felt called to establish House of Praise.

Partnering with her husband, Pastor Andrew Lloyd Adeleke, Olayemi experienced remarkable growth and success in church planting and leadership development. They established churches in London, Birmingham, Milton Keynes, Germany, Canada, the USA, and beyond, with over 100 churches tracing their roots back to House of Praise. During this period of her life, Olayemi also pursued further education, earning a Post Graduate Diploma from the Redeemer’s Bible School.

In 1998, at the age of 34 and after 5 years of fervent prayer for their third child, a new birth emerged: the Total Woman Ministries. This ministry has been a source of blessing to countless First Ladies, Leading Ladies, and women worldwide through its Total Woman Conferences. Currently, a primary focus of the ministry is providing financial and spiritual support to orphans, widows, and girls in developing nations.

To the glory of God, this ministry has served as a catalyst for numerous women’s ministries that have blossomed in the U.K. and beyond. Through Total Woman, many homes and broken relationships have been healed, preserved, and strengthened. Countless women have discovered and confidently assumed their roles in the body of Christ, bringing glory to God. Testimonies abound regarding the impact of the ministry to date. In 2000, at the age of 36, Olayemi welcomed her last daughter, Beulah Rachael Adeleke, a miracle baby girl.

It might be a herculean task to jostle words together for our mama. As words will bang against each other and the adjective to qualify you will bump at each other.... Suffice to say describing you or writing a tribute will not be an easy task, as finding words that aptly describe you is intimidating.

Is it to talk about Total Woman Ministries, the first women’s conference in UK, which of course makes you a pacesetter, forerunner, pioneer trailblazer and neoteric. Total woman ministry! We were all very proud to be a part of it from the start; it was my own very firsthand experience in planning an international conference that attracts women from all walks of life. It was a joking word with baba, in the living room in Thamesmead that agitated “Total Man” the following year; and we laughed ourselves over this for years. The slogan was “Let total man be a baby under total woman, as we couldn’t match the standard your team and yourself birthed.

Your love for papa is second to none. I have seen many women stood with and by their husband but yours is beyond description. Thank you for showing the rising and next generation the path of matriarch.

When I worked with Papa in Peckham, I would hue praise on him for his administrative skill, until I worked with mama for a few months in HoP Woolwich, and I wondered who I should praise more for prowess in putting order and structure in place. (Mama well-done ma as you carry that trophy).

She endeavors to nurture women towards total wholeness in Christ. Renowned as a seasoned teacher of the Word, Pastor Yemi is also an author with 12 published books to her credit. Among her notable works are “Better than 7 Sons,” “Woman Living on the Cutting Edge,” “Tying the Knot and Making It Last (Vol. 1 & 2),” and the widely acclaimed “Total Woman Devotional Journal.”

Our Heavenly Father has a special place in His heart for widows. The Bible says “A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling.” (Psalm 68:5). It is hard to imagine the difficulty that a widow faces especially in this climate, where resources are often scarce, and there is a growing pandemic of loneliness.

I know what struggles my own mother went through as a separated woman with four children to care for and no job to rely on! How much more widows in a country like Nigeria where there are not social services in sight. Imagine a widow with young children or no children or even with children with no jobs and therefore with nobody to hold their hands. The isolation and burdens carried by widows are profound, making it all the more crucial for us to extend our helping hands.

PROVIDING HAND IN HAND SUPPORT FOR 60 WIDOWS

It is for this reason that I ask that you join me to Launch support and help to as many widows as possible. Starting with 60, to commemorate and show gratitude to the husband of widows. I believe that you and I can be the difference. Your generous contribution will not only provide tangible assistance but will also serve as a powerful expression of care and compassion.
