SEATING OPTIONS
Before you start digging for an outdoor pit, it is very important that you have a clear idea of what you want to achieve. A firepit and its surroundings can be considered as an environment. I think of it as my very own private park where friends are welcome to relax or have some fun. Therefore, the surroundings around the pit itself directly affects the vibe and the mood of the people who are in it. Here I will be sharing some of the ideas that I considered when I built my own firepit to give you an idea of the direction for your firepit build.
SEPARATE SEATING Probably the most common firepit seating layout. This is very common on campfires with individual seats around the pit. Seats are distanced apart from one another and offer the most flexibility as long as the seats are not xed to the ground.
GARDEN SPACE LAYOUT A simple idea for the yard with a garden built around the pit. This is a good idea for an addition to an existing garden with a large space. In considering the position of the pit, make sure to keep a significant distance away from combustible materials such as the roof of the house or trees that may catch fire.
SEMI CIRCLE LAYOUT The best layout for group pictures for lasting memories with your friends. A picture perfect layout with an open space on the front. With seats positioned half a circle around the pit facing the fire and a wide space for fun activities.
RETREAT STYLE OUTDOOR LOUNGE A very relaxing layout with seats designed as couches instead of stools where everyone can relax and take a nap or gaze upon the stars. A hot tub next to the firepit makes an awesome spa experience.
GAZEBO SEATING An awesome seating arrangement that makes it the most practical choice. Having the roof of the gazebo protect everything underneath from the rain or the snow. The four posts give options on a square seating arrangement. A couple of things to consider is the height of the roof and the size of re that the pit makes.
