Karol Bagh has become one of the important commercial center outside the walled city. The invasion of commercial activity has pushed out the residential use substantially. Karol Bagh is due for comprehensive redevelopment on the basis of mixeduse concept with provsions of parking and up-gradation of facilities and utilities. The project aims to identify, analyse and propose solutions for these issues arising due to changing urban typology and increasing population

PROBLEMS IDENTIFIED Pusa Road is a high congestion node in Karol Bagh. There are a number of education centers schools, a hospital, and many commercial outlets. The traffic is increased due to the construction of a Metro station which caused narrowing of the road and increased parking problems. The Ajmal Khan road is one of the famous markets in Delhi. It remains crowded most of the day inviting hawkers and street vendors. A lot of commercial and pedestrian activities create chaos and conflicts in the area.

The design solutions provided are in consideration with the high density and lack of space for new construction. The pedestrian movement is given priority in the entire scheme. This helps to seperate the vehicular and pedestrian movement. The design based on the arrival and destination points.

The elevated plaza on the Pusa Road is designed to solve pedestrian-vehicular conflict. The spaces for public interaction are provided. The Ajmal Khan market is pedestrianised curbing vehicular entry. This gives safe space for shoppers and residentials

2017 Academic Project (Collaboration) Vakilpura, Delhi. India Documentation/ Illustrations and drawings Aditi Gupta/ Nidhi Sharma (8 other teams working on different aspect of the area) Ar. Abhishek Jain
The inner core of the Old City of Delhi is deteriorating. The aim of the project is to document and analyse the changing architectural and urban typology of area. The objective is to create awareness about insensitivity towards cultural heritage and lack of political and professional initiative. I documented the architectural typology of the structures and the transformation occuring in the area. • The inference of the project eas that there is a need to change the policy strategies. The area need to be marked as an important historical landmark with defined regulations for future construction. • There is need to rejuvinate and redevelope the dillapidated and outdated structures. • Regulization in the land use required. The immediate need to stop commercial influx is necessary.

Vakilpura is part of the old walled city in the Central Delhi. Although it was originally the only Hindu area in the part of the city. The area consisting of four Havelis which were subsequently divided to accommodate increasing population. The initial architecture style of the area was Mughal. Colonial structures were constructed in middle nineteenth and early twentieth century. The area is slowly losing this architectural history due to the new construction demolishing the original structure. The architectural context is not taken in consideration. The increasing commercial activities has resulted in changing architectural typology.

MUGHAL-COLONIAL HYBRID
RE-CONSTRUCTION IN CONTEMPORARY FORM
The amalgamation of Mughal and colonial architecture gave place to hybrid structures where ground floor is Mughal style and subsequent floors is colonial. This typology can be seen throughout the old city. The new construction taking place today disregard any context and is based on functional needs of the users. The RCC structures are being created with contemporary street façade. The increasing commercial activity has resulted in steel shuttered shops on the ground floor. The original style is being demolished in the process of redevelopment of the failing structure.

2019 Competition entry (Collaboration) Laveno Mombello, Italy Design/ 3D Drawings/ Illustrations Aditi Gupta/ Kanika Maheshwari/ Megha Gupta Organised by Unipol Group on YAC
The historical factory in a beautiful setting of Laveno Mombello was one of the initiates of Art Nouveau, the liberty style. As the style is the mixture of different styles, so is the purpose of this project of mixing innocence of child, joy of pets, growth through education and sports along with leisure and tourism. The design aims to connect them all while keeping the original identity of the existing architecture. Majority of the building profile is retained, roof profiles are kept similar, spaces are created within the campus in a way for maximum interaction without hindering the individual growth. The focus is on the point of connection of all the sports ground.

ZONING The circulation of the site is designed to keep student and visitor interaction to minimum. The activities are zoned in a way that the public movement within the premises is regulated. As kindergarten children need a joyful and safe space to grow, the kindergarten is placed near the admin and pet house. Their play area is also kept away from public movement areas. Keeping in mind the student psychology the spaces are flexible in design.

CONCEPT Montserrat lost its identity and musical culture due to the volcanic activities. The intent is to build Montserrat from its burnt ashes that remain in the city of Plymouth, just like the rebirth of the mythological bird Phoenix. The idea is well defined by the memorial that is strategically placed to bind the entire site and visually commands the attention.
