This presentation is based on the workshop conducted by Mr. Ravi Bhadauria. The topic of the presentation is ‘TYPES OF LAYOUTS’.

WHAT IS A LAYOUT? It is a method of setting or arranging the pictures, text or any other visual element on a page. Layout thus helps in systematically arranging the content of the page to give it a good and formal appearance.
WHY LAYOUT IS SO IMPORTANT? Layout plays a very important role in a design.
â?– IT LEADS TO EFFECTIVE USE OF THE AVAILABLE
AREA:
The layout helps in arranging the design elements in such a way that it leads to a proper usage of the space. Even the space which is left out i.e. the negative space, is considered as an active element in a layout.
â?– FACILITATES THE CONTROL OF EYE MOVEMENT:
The major role that a layout plays, is controlling the eye movement of the audience. A good designer will always try to control the eye movement of the audience. For this he needs a good knowledge of layout and its importance. Layout also helps in establishing the overall appearance of the page by systematically arranging all the elements.
HOW MANY TYPES OF LAYOUTS ARE THERE? There are 10 types of layouts: Mondrian layout

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN MONDRIAN AND MULTI- PANEL LAYOUT? MONDRIAN LAYOUT
MULTI-PANEL LAYOUT
Mondrian layout is the one which uses horizontal, vertical or diagonal bars to produce rectangular shapes, but uses only the primary colours i.e Red, yellow, blue.
Multipanel layout is the one which is divided into various sections in same shape such as square, rectangle, etc.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN BIG TYPE, ALPHABET INSPIRED, AND COPY HEAVY LAYOUTS? BIG TYPE This layout use extra large fonts and font styles to grab attention. It is bold and covered with huge text.
ALPHABET-INSPIRED This layout focuses on the text or alphabet as an inspiration for the idea. The fonts form a shape or a design.
COPY HEAVY
This layout is concentrated to the copy-writting. (dominated by text) Examples:
• Newspapers • Magazines • Brochures

A layout is thus a method of setting or arranging the pictures, text or any other visual element on a page.

There are varieties of layouts that can be used in a design to make it a better one.

Layout elements are of 6 types and if we talk about the stages in layout production then there are 4 stages in it.
