The catalogue from the exhibition of 2017 International Painting Symposium held at The Mark Rothko Art Centre MRAC, Daugavpils Latvia.
The expansive Rothko Centre holds original works on loan from the family of Mark Rothko and produces annually Symposium projects to discuss ideas relating to the Abstract Expressionist Mark Rothko.
The international Programme participants during 2017 were Edda Jachens (Germany), Graham Fletcher (New Zealand), Anthony White (Australia / France), Katarina Balunova (Slovakia), Evrim Özeskici (Turkey), Bernier Carol (Canada), Teona Chanishvili (Georgia), Erling Stuart Rohde (Norway), Ramūnas Čeponis (Lithuania) and Madara Neikena (Latvia).
Within the traditional framework of symposium artists’ portfolio presentations, lectures and master classes will be held. The result of the symposium will culminate in a final exhibition, paintings of which will remain as part of the permanent collection.
