11 ADNEC Group Annual Report 2023

MESSAGE FROM THE MANAGING DIRECTOR & GROUP CEO

It gives me great pleasure to present the ADNEC Group Annual Report for 2023. This report is a testament to our remarkable accomplishments and the significant strides we have made throughout the year. It underscores our integral role in fostering economic diversification and cements our status as a major influencer in the global tourism industry. The report comprehensively details our achievements, our enduring mission, and the key initiatives undertaken by ADNEC Group in 2023.

Aligned with its mission to position Abu Dhabi as a leading tourism destination in the region and support the nation’s vision for a diversified, knowledge-based economy, ADNEC Group stands as a dynamic conglomerate. Its diverse portfolio underlines ADNEC Group’s commitment to fostering sustainable business growth, contributing significantly to the emirate’s economic prosperity and diversification efforts, and bolstering the growth of non-oil sectors. The Group’s economic contributions in 2023 exceeded AED 7.37 billion, making it the largest annual contribution in the Group’s history since its establishment in 2005, and marking a 107% increase from the previous year. Moreover, we have created over 51,400 job opportunities, reflecting a substantial 145% increase from 2022.

With pride I share with you the significant surge in events that we have hosted at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre and Al Ain Convention Centre (AACC). In 2023, our events portfolio expanded to 476, and attracted 1,786,529 visitors. This represents a doubling of our event count with a remarkable 123% increase in visitor numbers compared to 2022. In cooperation with the Ministry of Defence, ADNEC Group organised in February 2023 the largest editions of the IDEX and NAVDEX exhibitions and their accompanying conference to date. The event covered 165,000 square metres in area, representing an increase of 24% on the previous edition, while the total number of visitors grew 114% to reach 132,000 overall.

In 2023, ExCeL London hosted over 300 events, attracting nearly three million attendees and 500,000 attraction visitors. The venue also saw significant progress in its expansion project, set to make it Europe’s largest integrated conference and exhibition centre by 2024, and began developing its dock edge, enhancing its appeal for global brands and immersive experiences.

ADNEC Hotels won several international accolades and welcomed a record 681,000 guests. Our new offerings like the ‘Ezba’ cultural centre and Al Falaj desert dining experiences at Qasr Al Sarab significantly enhanced our hospitality profile. Our properties, including Qasr Al Sarab, ANdAZ, The Reykjavik EDITION in Iceland, and Sir Bani Yas, received prestigious awards, solidifying our commitment to delivering exceptional hospitality experiences.

Capital Protocol was also launched last year as part of ADNEC Services. This offered specialised service packages through a strategic partnership with COP28 UAE. Capital Protocol was able to assist with the organization of COP28 and provide world class protocol and logistical support to ensure the event’s success, in keeping with the UAE’s global status and esteemed reputation.

12 ADNEC Group Annual Report 2023

LITE Development, launched in 2021 as part of ADNEC Services’ cluster, achieved impressive growth with a 295% YoY revenue increase. The company’s emphasis on innovative, non-mainstream real estate projects underscores our commitment to realising visionary ideas and expanding our business portfolio, while Tourism 365’s Capital Holidays and Capital Experience divisions contributed to enhancing Abu Dhabi’s tourism sector. Tourism365 also launched the first ever daily charter flights from three German cities to Abu Dhabi in the last quarter of 2023.

On our Media front, the addition of twofour54 to our group has been pivotal in enhancing Abu Dhabi’s creative landscape. With the development of the region’s largest studio complex and demand driving the expansion of Yas Studios at the Yas Creative Hub, twofour54 is setting the stage for Abu Dhabi to become a leading hub for creative industries.

In summary, 2023 has been a year of growth and success for ADNEC Group. Our strategic endeavours across various sectors, from event management to hospitality and real estate development, have significantly contributed to Abu Dhabi’s economic diversification and positioned us as a leader in the regional and global market. With each of our business units achieving landmark successes and breaking new ground, we are poised for continued growth and innovation in the coming years. Our achievements in 2023 are not just milestones but stepping stones to a future where ADNEC Group remains at the forefront of Abu Dhabi’s dynamic evolution.

We step into the year 2024 with the announcement that we have successfully completed the unification of the corporate identity of ADNEC Group’s seven business clusters, ensuring harmony with the Group’s main identity, which was launched in September 2022.

The unification of corporate identity across the business sectors reflects ADNEC Group’s dedication to achieving harmony and integration amongst all its main business units. This initiative seeks to bring added value and protect shareholders’ interests by strengthening the Group’s reputation and position, both regionally and globally.

I am confident that the new corporate identity for our business units will serve as a strong foundation for building on our acheivements in the years to come.
