The city consciously develops grape and fruit culture. This town is the county town of Bács-Kiskun County since 1950. It has 108 thousand inhabitants. The fast development of the town is due to foreigner and domestic investments. Important contributing factors of the development are that of press-industry, clothing industry, machine industry and the sector serving consumers, like Tesco, Pólus, Practicer, Metro, Baumax, and the local Univer. The can see of all, square the big one which next

Town Hall

The image of the town and its inhabitants is that of a hard working folk. Apart from the Golden Triangle Kecskemét is the richest part of Bács-Kiskun that is developing constantly. The Mercedes factory has made it a hub recently. It employs thousands of people and it had a role in the slight rise of the yearly GNP rate last year. So what about the image of the tourist? Mostly families and young people go to Kecskemét, though it would be good for all demographic groups because of the wide range of programs ensured by the town. When walking around in Kecskemét it is not really normal to hear foreign languages, but I have already talked to at least ten "aliens" who have visited Kecskemét and liked it a lot. If Kecskemét advertised itself better, tourism could be a serious means of income for the town. For me Kecskemét always symbolizes a busy but liveable town. It was always far enough from Kiskőrös to remain special, but it was always close enough to make me feel responsible and proud of it. Kecskemét means fun for me. With school we have always gone there to the movies, to the plaza, to play bowling, or to the theatre.

Kiskőrös is situated in the South of Hungary in Bács-Kiskun County, 107 kilometres from Budapest. It has approximately 14000 inhabitants and is the agglomeration centre of the surrounding towns, villages and farm areas as it has three churches, numerous banks, two primary and one high school. It lies in the Great Lowland and is part of the Town hall Golden Triangle. Kiskőrös is famous for Sándor Petőfi, one of Hungary’s most well-known poets, who was born there in 1823, so it is of high importance for the lovers of literature and arts. It is also said to be the land of grape and wine. There are several things to do there, though it is a rather small town. First of all, in the town centre one should visit the Petőfi Museum, the Petőfi translator park and the house where he was born. There is a pedestrian zone where one can find cosy cafés and a pizzeria. With the ticket for the museum one can visit the Slovakian Country house as well. Further in the outskirts of the Petőfi Museum town one can enjoy the recreating, relaxing and healing effects of the famous thermal bath and thermal water. A camping belongs to the baths, too, usually inhabited by German pensioners throughout spring, summer and autumn. And for the lovers of vehicles the Vehicular Collection must be highly interesting. Kiskőrös offers around 200 accommodations, restaurants and fast food restaurants. For the lovers of nature and active Thermal bath in tourism the Szücsi forest and the bike path Kiskőrös connecting Kiskőrös and Kiskunhalas offer a great opportunity of active recreation. Kiskőrös hosts several festivals, for instance the Town Founders' Days, the Harvest Festival, Advent Market, and "Petőfi New Year's Eve", just like several sport event and wine competitions. A well-known event throughput Hungary is Petőfi tour held during spring. One can choose which distance to walk or ride: 20, 40 or70 kilometres.

The image of the town is that of an agricultural one, hardworking and wealthy. The image of the typical tourist is that of an intellectual, middle aged or old person, who likes quality meals, quality wines, wellness, recreation, and intellectual programs. For me Kiskőrös is the island of peace, happy, cloudless childhood and protection. One can find everything necessary for growing up and for growing old later. The people are nice and the town is generally safe and one can find programs all the time.
