Seeking the dream Vertical housing project

The increased demand on housing projects all around the world can be attributed to several reasons, which include wars that cause mass immigration and the contiguous rise of global population. In Bahrain the lack of availability of land and its high cost is one of the main problems for housing projects. This project focuses on taking the housings in Bahrain to a whole new level where people would accept the concept of an apartment. It also focuses on the needs and wants of each individual who dreams of owning his/her own home. The project offers many diversities among the design. It leads to many options for the client to choose depending on what he/she likes either by the location of the apartment or the view or even the size. It is very flexible that it responds to all kind of users who would be a mixture of young couples and older people. After going back and forth between the micro and macro scale I ended up with a design of the dream home that meets the expectations of all users.

The main idea is taking the “home” with all its needs and wants and redefining it in a vertical way. The final concept integrates step-housing and tower typology. The design features a commercial area which can be shared jointly between the residents of the area where the complex is being built and residents of the complex itself. Single unit of a house

In order to provide the residents of the complex high-level privacy, it was necessary to deal with the highway site next to the complex, which is a common problem that arises from pre-constructed infrastructure. Therefore studying the typology of the urban context of the surrounding urban fabric was the first step to do. This required extending gridlines from the road and aligning the complex with three main aspects: (1) visual aspect with the fort, sea and road views. (2) Another aspect is the road connection, and the final aspect is the north direction. The accessibility was divided into 2 main points as pedestrians and vehicles. Pedestrians who are residents can move freely in almost the whole site because the street level was designed to allow high-level of walkability. That’s the reason behind restricting the car movement on site and allowing visitors to park only at the edges while residents have dedicated underground parking lots. At the edge of the site, a bus-station was proposed. Facility Floor is divided to two sectors, A public sector which serves both native residents of the complex and other residents of the site. It includes hairdressers, supermarkets and bakeries. The second sector is private and it’s sandwiched between the upper and the lowers half of the complex. It contains spaces for kids and sports, cafes, and a study hall with a library.

Manama international bus terminal

Urban design project

Urban traffic in Bahrain is under development, which requires modifying the existing infrastructure. The organization of the terminal is determined by site configuration, the volume of operating buses and the number of passengers. The development of bus transportation has closely followed advances in automotive technology and the improvement and expansion of the national highway network. The existing bus terminal in the center of Manama is serving passengers to and from Saudi Arabia through King Fahad Causeway. Since a new causeway connecting Bahrain with Qatar will be constructed in the near future, this shall provide an efficient highway network connecting all Gulf countries.

Manama International Bus Terminal proposal connects Kingdom of Bahrain with other Gulf States and Arab countries. This project is part of Bahrain urban development within the transportation section.

Sheltering Startups Live-Work housing project

Nowadays markets are in need of housing concepts that go with the fast track of a person’s life rhythm. Even though Germany is one of the leading countries that support startup businesses and their task as incubators of innovative and creative ideas. Still there are only 159 startup businesses and co-working stations in Munich, compared to Berlin the capital which has 596. Why do those new university graduates immigrate from one place to other? Are housing and working stations located outside Munich are a better solution for university new graduates? Sheltering startups is an international residential proposal located in Munich, Germany. It is a live/work housing project. It targets freelancers and startups with their families. It’s a place where people with big ideas could come, work and dwell they also could exhibit their work and interact with their surroundings and with public.
