It’s been operated under concession by SANSOUCI since 2005. The port is the leader of processing vehicles into the Dominican Republic and is the main link for commercial exchange between the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.

Port Santo Domingo enjoys a strategic advantage regarding its geographic location, since it is in the center of the City of Santo Domingo, on the Rio Ozama estuary, adjacent to the Colonial City. It has two terminals on each side of the river, which provides and/or facilitates easy access to the main roads and highways of the country. The port offers connections with different islands in the Caribbean and with the state of Florida in the United States. It has the infrastructure to handle different types of cargoes: Containers, General Non-Container Cargo, Vehicles and Passengers. Is the only port in the country that handles its cargo in a Roll On/Roll Off form. The terminals that operate inside the port are:

Sansouci Terminal

- It has a Berth Line of 250 meters.

- Depth is 11 meters.

- It has a warehouse space of 20,000 square meters.

- Passenger Terminal has a capacity to handle up to 5,000 passengers per call.

- This terminal has the capacity to handle: Cruise Vessels, Breakbulk Vessels, Pure Car Carriers and Container Vessels (Roll On/Roll Off vessels).

Don Diego Terminal

- It has a Berth Line of 400 meters.

- Depth is 10 meters.
