Kennett Square ACE Hardware
By Marcella Peyre-Ferry Contributing Writer
Kennett Square Ace Hardware, located at 350 Scarlet Road in Kennett Square, is ready to serve the community with selection, service and top brands for all types for home and garden repairs and improvements.
“Our vision is to provide a great experience for the community,” owner Steve Eisel said. “We’re here because there is a need for a hardware store in the area. We’ve got stock and we’re here for you.”
Kennett Square Ace Hardware is a family-owned and operated business, run by Eisel, his wife Kit, and their children.
Ace hardware stores are part of a cooperative, with each store retailer owned. Eisel explained that there are four Ace store formats based on size. The Kennett Square location in the former Peebles Store site fits the largest of the four sizes, making it an Ace superstore.
The superstore designation should not be confused with the big box retailers. Eisel follows the Ace format which provides a wider selection in less physical space than the huge big box stores.
“We have a wider breadth of product. This is one of the reasons I selected a to work with Ace,” Eisel said. “The cooperative works hard at defining the selection of product that is recommended we carry. We have almost 25,000 different skus in the store. Don’t be misled by size of store. We carry lesser volume but we have a wider breadth. We work really hard at maintaining the products in stock.”
Along with the Ace name comes the Ace tradition of quality and service. “Ace is ‘famous for four’ featuring paint, BBQ, Power and the traditional hardware,” Eisel said. “We have a special focus on BBQ and carry Weber, Traeger, Big Green Egg, and Blackstone. We are working to be your backyard destination.”
In the paint department, the store carries the full line of Benjamin Moore paints. “It is the best paint you can buy,” he explained. “It is well known as the premium paint.”
There is also a full range of specialty paints, exterior stains and preservatives and computerized color matching services.
“Our paint department is top of the line,” Eisel explained.
In addition to carrying the best paint, Ace carries many of the best brands including Stihl, Milwaukee, Toro, Ego, Scotts, and Yeti.
To help you find exactly what you need, staff are ready to help you. Eisel explained, “In an Ace store, we are known as the helpful place. Our goal is to ask everybody, as soon as they walk in the door, ‘what can I help you find?’ If someone needs help, we talk them through and try to help them understand the problem and the solution.” Some items change with the season, so you will have what you want when you want it. Spring brings everything you need for the garden, with potting soil and fertilizer in the outdoor area. Summer finds well stocked pool supplies, followed by fall cleanup and winter snow removal tools. For the Christmas holiday season, find a wide stock of holiday lighting and decorations. You can also take a look for something unique from the year-round gift shop area.
Kennett Square Ace Hardware is also a part of the Ace Rewards network, Ace Rewards. Join the free program that provides cash back rewards, coupons for additional savings and instant savings on many products in the store. Another perk of the program is that Ace Rewards customers may also receive free delivery on orders over $50.
