HIROSHI SUZUKI

NEW & EARLY WORKS

Tokyo-based, Hiroshi Suzuki is widely recognised as one of the world’s leading, contemporary silversmiths. This presentation of predominantly new work, demonstrates his self-assurance through continual mastery of his chosen material.

New, evocative textures and glorious patterns sensitively enhance his commanding vessel forms to create a series of irresistible masterpieces.

Alongside these new works of art, Adrian Sassoon is also pleased to present an important selection of early work. These wonderful vessels include a number of early career highlights which are now available.

Adrian Sassoon has been Suzuki’s principal dealer since 2005 and overseen the sale of twenty-two works to major international public collections.

“My work has always come from nature, I like to express its ever-changing forms, such as the shift from one season to another.”

“I have developed an intuitive relationship with silver that allows me to approach my work in a highly spontaneous way. Initiating work without development stages such as drawing and making small-scale models could be seen as risky, but for me it allows a certain freedom to create intuitively and remain true to the material. Intuition and feeling are core to my creative process, allowing me to maintain sensitivity with the material. The thematic influences in my work explore the subtleties within fluidity and sensuality, a very personal expression applied with an allencompassing hand”
