THE PROBLEM

At this very moment, 1.4 billion people are without a basic human need – adequate shelter. For every 5 people on this planet, 1 doesn’t have a home home.. In third world countries, millions of people are completely exposed to the elements due to poverty and natural disasters. Within the 5 minutes you spend looking through this presentation, 300 people will become houseless. By tomorrow, 86,000 will join the ranks. Sometimes it’s due to an earthquake, tsunami or other natural disaster. Some are displaced due to war and civil unrest while others are born in slums with little hope for change.

1

Whether the cause is manmade or natural, the effects are staggering. Each year thousands die of heatstroke, dehydration and exposure to elements due to lack of shelter. Hundreds of millions more do the best they can, using unsuitable materials that rot, leak, lack proper ventilation and offer no protection from heat or cold.

These makeshift shanties put them at increased risk of malaria, emphysema and other severe illnesses. Some shelters require large amounts of wood to be collected and burned for heating and cooking, putting women and children at risk for sexual assault while out scouting for timber.

THE SOLUTION The solution is to build a product that is: EASY to construct using unskilled workers FAST to finish so that entire villages can be housed immediately

INEXPENSIVE

to third world countries, missionaries and disaster relief organizations

LASTING so that it serves as a true home IADDIC SHELTERS Using pretty awesome technology, IADDIC Shelters has created Housing Renewal Kits that allow 2 people to build a complete shelter in less than 3 hours each. Our goal is to get these kits into the hands that need them most. With help, we can provide Housing Renewal Kits directly to foreign residents or organizations who will build communities for them. For the price of a new

home in America, we can build 145 houses in Guatemala and change lives forever. Each kit costs about $2,000 and can be fully constructed in 3 hours. In the 40 days it would normally take a volunteer team to build 1 brick house, 2 people can build 80 IADDIC shelters.

THE SHELTER Children in Mumbai are sleeping under roofs made of cloth. Families in Mexico City are shielded from the rain by a piece of cardboard.

Construction companies build houses for people who can afford them them.. Now we have a house that everyone can afford afford.. So how can we build a home that is affordable, long-lasting, easy to build and able to be shipped anywhere? Glad you asked. We use a top-secret ingredient - foam. It’s used in many places, from your car bumper to heat shields on space shuttles. The interesting thing about most foam is that it is made by combining two or more chemical ingredients that react with one another and “foam” up. The finished product takes on the shape of the object the chemicals are poured into (the mold). It’s pretty much like pouring cake batter into a pan and baking a cake. We discovered that we could formulate particular foams that are capable of being a home and force the foam to take

on the shape of a house by building the mold in the shape we desire. For instance, semi-round domed roofs are standard in parts of Africa and Asia, while square houses with pitched roofs are typical elsewhere. Each shelter is rich with features: they will not rot, insects do not eat them, they resist many chemicals, they are earthquake resistant, and can withstand extreme weather conditions. IADDIC shelters are simple to set up and are highly insulated. SHELTER THE WORLD: info@sheltertheworld.com

THE PRODUCT is a website offering T-shirts, hats, totes, actual shelters and other branded products to raise awareness and funds for housing those in need need.. It is the result of several people who felt called to volunteer their time, resources and product for a cause bigger than themselves. The website is co-managed by IADDIC Shelters, who receive all profits from the merchandise sales. The site was developed by Pinpoint Marketing and The Parker Marketing Group. It is a social enterprise that provides the shelter as a product to aid agencies, mission groups, governments and other organizations to meet the needs of the poor. You are able to

ABOUT US Our mission is to provide long term, low cost and immediate housing to those in need need. No more houses made of twigs, tarps, mud or plastic sheets. SHELTER THE WORLD provides a means to get the cure where it’s needed.

FOUNDER’S STORY: A Couple With A Vision

I often call the work we are doing a journey of faith: faith that we can actually impact a person or a family in a positive way for the rest of their lives by providing shelter. Providing shelter was not something I would have chosen as a career. However, as the years passed and the children grew older, my wife Suzan and I began to have heartfelt discussions about our purpose in life. It just seemed to us that there was something more to life than a having a good paycheck, new cars, fancy houses, or the executive title while managing corporate affairs. But what could it be?

7

Then on January 17, 2005 as Suzan and I were praying, we sensed we knew what we were to do. Shelter! Shelter God’s Creation. But on that day we did not know anything about shelter, or the lack thereof, in the world. So we began to explore and learn what was going on. It didn’t take us long to understand the desperate condition of hundreds of millions of people the world over. From that point on our lives would never be the same. Over the course of the next three years we poured everything we had, including investments from friends and family, into developing a shelter that has the ability to transform people’s lives. We needed a shelter that could be built by people everywhere, quickly, and addressed many of the problems with shelter today. We have been blessed to have been shown how to build a shelter that does not rot, bugs do not eat, is highly insulated which is good for their

comfort and reduces the needs on heating and cooling, is earthquake resistant, will not fall apart, and can withstand the rigors of use and time. Hence the IADDIC Shelter. It was during this time that I also experienced many medical problems like meningitis, and cancer to name but two. And although these illnesses and injuries slowed our progress down considerably we persisted. We had many people who supported us along the journey and I can not thank them enough for their support. We have been blessed to have had so many people come along side of us to help us with this work. We feel this is important work and know that it takes many people to make such an ambitious undertaking possible I believe in working together to provide shelter to those who do not have.

HELP We can’t do it alone alone.. Help us spread the word, raise funds and increase awareness today. Here’s how you can help: Visit the site and simply purchase a product and the profit will go directly to IADDIC Shelters. Whether it is a t-shirt or an entire shelter, every dollar counts towards gifting shelters to families in need. If you simply wish to give directly without purchasing a product, that’s fine too. You will soon be able to make a gift in any amount.

If you have an organization, church or missions group that is looking for a service project, we would love to hear from you. We can work with you to provide IADDIC Shelters for your group to build across the globe. We need help in numerous areas, including warehousing, travel, design, printing, photography, merchandise sells, networking, events and the list goes on. Whatever your skill or resource is, we’re sure we can use it somewhere. The cost of constructing and gifting one shelter is $2,000. A gift of $500 purchases onequarter of a shelter, $1,000 purchases half a shelter and $2,000 allows us to give a complete shelter. Please be patient as this process may take many months to complete. Know there is a lot of work going on during this time including selecting locations, collecting materials and shipping them internationally, working with partners, coordinating travel, and much more.
