A Guide for all Adrian Etheridge Photography couples

W E L C O M E Hello and welcome! This is such an exciting time for you and I’m so honored to be a part of it. I’m sure your mind is racing with all that needs to be planned, everything you need to do to start your business. Sure, it’s all very exciting , but it can also be somewhat overwhelming. My goal as your branding photographer is to make this aspect of the planning process simple. Photography is more than just image; it’s a chance for you to share your story, your personality, all your hard work, with the world. Not only do you deserve beautiful images, you also deserve an amazing photographic experience. The goal of this guide is to help you plan your branding session so I can provide you with the BEST experience possible. Since we’re official, the next step is to plan your consultation so I can begin sketching out your session. I’m beyond excited to be working with you and I cannot wait to get to know you during this process!

You may have gotten a hint of this already, but I LOVE what I do. Telling your story is such an honor! Since we’ll be spending a lot of time together, I want to make sure you really feel like you know me. So, here is a basic introduction.

Here are a few of my favorite things: Band: All Them Witches Song: Here Comes the Sun (The Beatles) Food: Tacos Drink: Black Velvet

ADRIAN This is me! I started this business when I was 19 years old and still in college and I still can’t believe I get to call this my career! I’m always the lead photographer and communicator. During your session, I like to stay behind the scenes to capture genuine emotions and personality - I’ve been called “the photo ninja” because I usually wear all black to events. But if you need any help during the planning process or at any point during the session, I’ll be very much there to help, walking you through each step. Through our consultation session, planning meetings, and several questionnaires, we’ll know each other quite well by your shoot! 3

Sports: Running! But I love watching basketball Hobby: Hiking, crafting, reading Book(s): The Harry Potter series, The Book Thief Animal(s): Cats and otters Season: Spring Color: Turquoise Movie: The Princess Bride

M A R K Mark is my partner, videographer, and one of my favorite people in the creative industry! We met while working for UNCA Athletics and have worked together closely the entire time we’ve known each other. Mark’s eye for storytelling translates through multiple genres so that he can create high speed compeling sports highlights, sentimental and romantic wedding films, and brandfocused business marketing material.

Godin Visual Productions V id e o g rap hy by Ma rk G o d in

I am a huge proponent of hiring both a photographer and videographer for your wedding day because the two work together to capture the full essence of a moment. While photos are perfect for freezing action and highlighting one specific moment or idea in each image, videos can much better convey the auditory and movement elements of each idea. Thus, I’m excited to partner with Godin Visual Productions to offer videography + photography packages to all of my clients!

Branding SESSION Best Start Times for Outdoor Sessions WI N T E R

D ec -Ma r 9-11a m , 3 - 5 pm During December through Mid-March you can plan on your session taking place around 9-11am or 3-5pm. However, the time changes in Mid-March and so that will make the start time one hour later.

SPRING

17

SUMMER

Jun-Aug 6- 9: 30a m , 6- 8p m Summer photoshoots are best right at sunrise or two hours before sunset. This will hopefully mean that the shoot will be during the cooler part of the day.

FA L L

Apr-May - Varies

S e pt-No v - Varies

The sunset time drastically changes throughout the course of these two months and so our shooting times change as well. You can plan on approximately 8-10am & 4-6pm in April and 7-10am & 5-8pm in May.

The sunset time changes drastically during these three months. In Sept, you can plan on 7-10, 5-7:30 until the third week and then you can plan on 7-10, 5:00-7:00 until MidOct. After the first week of Nov, 8-10, 3:00-5:00pm.

LOGISTICS: - I generally prefer to photograph branding sessions on weekdays since my weekends are dedicated to photographing weddings! Saturday & Sunday mornings and Sunday afternoon/evenings are sometimes available if absolutely needed. - I love shooting at gorgeous locations. I recommend two locations for your session: your typical place of business and somewhere that suits your brand. A general rule of thumb is the more locations and outfits, the less images, but the more variety you’ll have! - Choose a time that not only fits your schedule, but your desired aesthetic. Sunrise shoots are more soft and romantic while afternoon/ evening shoots are more bold and fun. - I love to travel for photoshoots! However, if I’ve never been to your desired location, I may need some advice on where to park.

By having just a simple window for any indoor location, I am able to create beautiful portraits with soft light. I love soft natural light so the more windows, the better! This is why my studio makes such a fantastic place for your branding session.

THE

WINDO W EFFECT

Hair and Makeup This photo session is all about celebrating your journey! I work with several professional hair and makeup artists who will make you look and feel your best. The goal is to accentuate your beauty while ensuring that you feel comfortable.

If you have a go-to hair and makeup artist, you are welcome to use them, otherwise we can add hair and makeup to your collection and I will schedule your appointment for you based on your preferred location and artists’ availability.

If we are photographing in my studio then this can be done in-studio.

D on’t f or g e t to p a c k . . . While the primary purpose of the initial branding session is to capture portraits which showcase your brand, I love to include a few images of your products, branding materials and/or sentimal objects which play a role in your business. If you are far enough along in your brand design process to have branding materials such as brochures, cards, logos, guides, etc., please bring them with you to include in your imagery. Please also bring with you a handful of sentimental items which symbolize why you started your business,. These object-based images will create variety in your photo gallery as well as add another layer to your story telling.

YOUR

Branding Shoot

The Full Collection In order to tell your story in a well-rounded way, we will have three separate parts to your session: personality portraits, action shots, and product photos. This way you will have content for all occasions!

30

Personality portraits Your business is an extension of you, so portraits capturing your personality are essential. I strive to create a relaxed atmosphere so that your personality and thus your business’s mission will shine through. We will make a few traditional “headshots to use for profile photos, etc. and then continue on with the fun part: posed and candid images that capture your genuine character so that you can use these images in your social media, website, print material and office decor to attract clients looking for like-minded business owners. Depending on your level of comfort in front of the camera, I can ask you prompting questions to bring out a particular emotion, or simply let you tell me about your goal and capture your enthusiasm.

31

Action Shots

33

With just you

Show your potential clients your passion for your craft. We will capture you in action, typically on-location in your place of business, in your element.

If we do the action photos in your space, please make sure it is clean and organized so that

In yo ur space

Mo de l s

and releases

there will be no distractions in our photos. Remove any other brand logos and signage to avoid copyright issues. Please bring photos of your space to our consultation so that I can determine whether we will need additional lighting.

Often, it is necessary to include models as “clients. If you have people you would prefer to work with, please connect me with them and I will coordinate the necessary details. If not, we will go over your ideal client in our consultation and I will bring in models for you. In all cases, we must ensure that each model signs a release that you can use their image in your advertising. I will provide these.

Be comfortable

You might feel silly running through the motions of your tasks over and over for photos, but I promise they will come out just fine. While we want to capture a range of emotions, do make sure to smile for some - you enjoy what you do! 34

For product photos within the branding collection we will highlight your best-sellers and/or your brand’s signature products. I will photograph each product on its own as well as stylized within a vignette or with someone interacting with it. This will build secondary content for all necessary forms of branding (website, social media, prints, etc.)

If you are a retail-based business also in need of catalog photos for a print or online collection, we can put together an additional catalog-specific package add-on to photograph your products in bulk. This will primarily be done against a solid backdrop - typically white for e-commerce.

Editing and Retouching

Just like with your makeup, my goal is to help you look your best but ensure you look natural. My editing will include basic color correction and blemish removal. If you would like additional retouching such as smoothing out your skin, I can do so at an additional cost per photo. A note: I often have people jokingly ask before our session if I can make them look so many pounds thinner or so many years younger. Technically, yes, however I do not offer this in any of my services. You want to present YOURSELF to your clients. My goal with each session is to show you just how beautiful you are so that you leave with not only great photos, but even more confidence in yourself.

38

The Big Reveal Finally, the part you’ve been waiting for - the part where you get to see your photos! We will schedule your in-person reveal so that you can view your images on my tv, discuss all possible uses of your photos, and begin work on any designing for print products.

41

W h a t t o d o | with your photos

Website The most common use of branding images is certainly building a website. This will generally be your first point of contact with your clients, so it’s important to make a visual impact. If you already have a web designer, we will include them in your consultation so I will have the necessary design info in mind while photographing.

Social Media The second most common? Definitely social media! This is a great place to turn customers into repeat clients by reminding them of your business, sharing sales or new products/services, and interacting with them. We will create a versatile array of content that will be eye-catching and cohesive in your feed.

Print Materials Digital images are included in each branding collection, but I also offer a wide array of print products such as personalized thank you notes (that are eco friendly!). business cards, and custom calendars. This is a great way to ensure brand awareness in an artful way!

Office Decor As a fine art photographer, I cannot recommend highly enough the importance of printing your images. Celebrate your journey and tell your clients your story with printed and framed images right in your place of business. Not only is this a great way to decorate, but it acts as additional advertising for yourself and your products!

Storybook Album Whether as reading material for your waiting room, or as a reminder to yourself of your awesomeness, my very favorite way to showcase your branding images is with a storybook album. We can include photos, testimonials, important dates, your own quotations and anything else you’d like to use to tell your story. These will make fantastic heirlooms of your hard work years down the road!

42

YOUR ONLINE GALLERY

If you bring your main device, we can actually go through all of this gallery setup in your reveal meeting if you would like. However, in the event that you change computers and need to download images again, want to share them with your staff, or just want to make sure you know the correct information, here’s everything you need to know about your gallery.

43

ACCESSING, SHARING and SELECTING YOUR PHOTOS: Once your images are completed, I will upload them to a gallery on my website with small collections within for personality photos, action shots, product photos and web-optimized images. You can access them directly from the link. You are welcome to share your gallery with friends and family, just copy the hyperlink in the URL bar. This will be your permanent gallery link so I suggest bookmarking it for ease of access.

DOWNLOADING PHOTOS: You will be able to download high resolution copies of all images in your online gallery (you can also purchase a USB of them if you’d prefer.) This process is very simple! All you have to do is select the images you’d like (or select all) and click “download” at the top right. Your photos will download directly to your “Downloads” folder in a zip file which you will have to unzip.

ORDERING PRINTS: We will look at all products in your reveal. However, you can also order prints from within your online gallery and have them shipped directly to your office! All typical print sizes are available and are printed in a professional lab to ensure color and contrast accuracy. Because you will have access to the high res images, you are welcome to print images on your own. However, I would warn you to avoid Walmart, Walgreens, Target and Costco. I cannot promise that your colors will print true-to-life if you choose to print at those stores or that they will be of the same quality archival paper.

GALLERY EXPIRATION: I have great news! Your galleries will not expire! As a complimentary part of my services, your photo gallery will be permanently housed on my website for safekeeping. However, even though you will have access to your images for a long time, I still recommend downloading them and saving them in multiple places for safe keeping.

SHARING, WATERMARKING & EDITING: You have the freedom to share your images in any way that you choose! These are your images, and I want you to love them so much that you can’t help but share them! I don’t believe that it is necessary to watermark your images. All I ask for is credit whenever you use an image on social media. I only have ONE rule when it comes to what you can and cannot do with our work. I always encourage my clients not to re-edit their images, especially using Instagram filters. Let me do that hard work.

44

BR ANDING HISTORY ALBUMS

I have always said that I would grab Miles, Henry and my photo albums if my house was on fire! Could I always build another album if something happened to this book? Yes. However, there is something special about creating your first heirloom. Having digital images is wonderful, but having a printed keepsake that tells a visual story of your business journey is priceless! These albums are important not just for your own enjoyment or your clients’ perusal, but so that your grandchildren can enjoy your story as well years down the road.

We will meet (or chat on the phone) for an abbreviated (and complimentary) consult to determine your goals for this session and then tailor it towards the type of content that you need. Typically, most of these photo sessions work on an hourly basis. I offer 10% off of all sessions - including full rebrands - to all of my past, or legacy, clients.

- Some suggested “growth” sessions include:

- General social media content refresh (often once a quarter)

- Annual personality portrait refresh

- Product catalog refresh and additions

- Photos of new services

- Annual team photos and/or team member replacement photos

- Full rebrand collections

If you are interested in continuing our partnership, I have several subscription services for weekly, monthly and bi-monthly content creation to ensure that your marketing stays up to date and on brand! Ask me about my subsctiption packages and recieve the first month free.
