Leading Research and Development Within and Across Schools A new course on leading research and evidence-informed practice within and across schools. This course is designed for those who have the vision and scope to engage successfully in research and evidence informed innovation for school development. You may be an educational leader looking to build an alliance of schools with research and development at its heart, or wishing to develop your expertise as a lead researcher so your teams and schools become research engaged or can form research learning communities. This exciting blended learning course aims to: • • •

Deepen your understanding of the leadership approaches required to establish research learning communities within and across schools Enable you to create and lead a research learning community and co-constructively research an area of innovation in practice Support you in deriving evidence-informed impact within or across schools and make recommendations for developing school and/or education policy

Assessment is through a 5,000 word portfolio assignment. This will portray your self-reflection and school-based learning with your understandings of educational leadership theories and professional/research learning communities. On completion of the modules you will develop insights and skills in: • • • • •

Leadership capacity building within and across school learning communities Logistic, structural and cultural issues in establishing school-based research learning communities Data-driven school improvement practices and impact evaluation Ethical research and evidence-informed change in school and/or education policy Being at the forefront of this new way of developing school practice and policy

This 30-credit course can be taken as part of the MA Leadership (180 credits). A Postgraduate Certificate in Leadership (60 credits) can be gained by successful completion of the 'Leading and Managing Change and Improvement' module which is offered in a variety of modes.
