Hey! I am a fourth year student at the Indian Institute of Art and Design, studying Interior Architecture and Design. Architecture and Design has been an area of interest for me since grade school, wherein I studied engineering graphics. It is from there that I picked up drawing skills and technical capacities to represent abstract concepts and ideas in the form of lines and colours. It was after completing my schooling that I realized that I wanted more of an intimate and detailed design experience and so I went in for interior designing. Other than design and architecture, I play the keyboard and love producing music. I read a lot and, write poetry. I am also an avid football fan, and play the sport, though not as much as I used to before.

ethnic kitchen design The brief here was to design an ethnic outdoor kitchen for a group of specially challenged children. The movement of a person in a kitchen and the process of layering and standardisation of things had to be questioned in a way so as to make the space adapt to the children. My design incorporated locally sourced materials that the children would identify with. The design incorporated all of the fundamentals of kitchen design but made it a place of learning for the children - safe and with an essence of calling it their own.

Plan rendered to show the essence of the kitchen space. The render is also aimed at illustrating the kitchen work triangle, as shown in an orange overlay.

Rendered plan showing a rough demarcation of different zones in the kitchen.

Residence (noida) The residential project was a partial live project wherein there was an actual client and site and the work that was to be done was distributed in groups amongst the class. The site was an upper class bungalow complex in a developing town and we were given the task of renovating an already present structure and plan the space, accordingly.

Funrniture design The furniture brief was a hands on experiential project wherein we worked on furniture designing. The idea was to look at objects and design through the lens of 'Jugaad' and analyse the different stages of jugaad that come into play everytime designing is done. The brief also required us to transform an 'original' piece of furniture into something very different. My piece of furniture was a demilune table, originally that turned into a low lying reclining couch. My study and insight came through the study of ergonomics and essential furniture design books with context to chair and couch designing.

Peeling off the existing laminate to reveal the blockboard.

Smoothening the edges to get the surfaces ready for putting foam.

Sticking foam on top to provide comfort.

Using 'jugaad' to balance the weight and movement of the chair. (Putting two bamboo pieces filled with concrete, screwed to the backend of the chair.)

The final product with the uphosltery.

artist studio & residency The brief was to create an integrated studio and residence for an artist of one's own choice. Though hypothetical, the stages involved construction and technicql drawings showing every innovative detail. 3D renderings and a model were also required to enhance the clarity of the presentation. My project encompasses the concept of linearity. Any entrance into the space has been designed in a way that the linearity is breached at that moment.

bhutanese cultural centre The brief was to create an integrated studio and residence for an artist of one's own choice.
