Chapter 1
Beyond the gate
As I walked outdoors, on the other side of the pet flap, my heart kept beating at a very fast pace .My name is COLLIE, AND HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING BEYOND THE GATE, EXCEPT THE BEAUTIFUL TREES, GRASS AND FERNS. I've always dreamed of it, but my owner says that my kind does not make friends with dogs, and there is many dogs near. I won’t believe a single word of it until I see it. I walk back into the safety of my owner’s house Kelley. I snuggle up beside her dreaming of finally experiencing the outside world. As soon as I woke up, Kelly was telling me all about the outside world. As she was finished, I was tempted to roll and play in the grass.
Chapter 2 Hidey hole
•
When Kelly finished talking, I went outside of the pet flap and found a hole in the iron gate that separates me from the outside world. I started to think, if I went and left, I’d leave Kelly brokenhearted. If I’D COME BACK EARLY ENOUGH FOR DINNER AND WITHOUT KELLY NOTICING, LIFE WOULD BE JUST PERFECT.MY HEARTBEAT PACE PICKED UP AS I PUT MY TWO FRONT PAWS INTO THE HOLE AND ONTO THE COLD, SOFT, GOOEY GROUND.
Chapter 3 The outside world
•
As soon as my body [ear to tail] was in the outside world, I galloped and ran until my paws ached. As I rested, I heard something saying wolf! As I got closer and closer, the sound got louder. To my surprise, a hairy, sharp toothed ,vicious creature was standing before me. I was too scared to move and was thinking about what my owner said about these creatures. They were hideous … they were …….dogs!!!!! . I ran for my life and remembered my owner got bitten by a dog, and got badly hurt from the infection. I SCAMPERED BACK TO THE DIRECTION OF MY OWNER’S HOUSE, BUT GOT LOST.
CHAPTER 4 WILDLIFE
•
As I ran for my life I noticed I was surrounded by trees and ferns. I’ve seen a tree in my owner’s backyard, but not this many. I looked behind me and noticed the dog was gone. I collapsed on the ground and noticed my breathing was ever so shallow. It was as shallow as it’s ever been. It’s so dangerous out her: no wonder Kelly never wanted me to experience this wonderland of horrors that is wildlife. Well, I’m not liking it one bit. It’s a really hard life out here. Well I’m going to have to camp out her tonight.
chapter 5 Sleepless nights
•
I couldn’t sleep, not outside in the open where I could be easy prey. I also cannot sleep on the cold hard floor without my comfy, cotton pillow. As I thought about this, my eyelids started to shudder, and finally closed. I dreamed of my nice, fluffy pillow, and Kelly was softly stroking me as I fell asleep. I knew that at home I was always safe, and now safety is all I need.
chapter 6 falls
•
the
As I woke up, I noticed I was safe and took a walk. As I padded north, I heard a huge crashing, roar. I jumped back. Has the dog come back to get me? I heard no bark, so I slowly put my paws out from behind the tree, and noticed that it was just the crystal clear waterfalls. I jumped back to my senses and raced to the waterfalls. As I drank my fill, I felt the cold, refreshing drink go down my throat. I felt refreshed and started to walk again.
chapter 7 home
•
The next morning, as I walked, I saw something familiar. As I walked closer and closer, my heart began to beat faster and faster. I was…..home!!!!! I ran and ran to my owner’s house and thought, I would never forget that adventure.
