They may also fear being turned away or being mistreated by health care providers. As a result, undocumented immigrants are less likely to have regular sources of care, seek preventive services, or have access to specialty care. This increases their risk for poor overall health. Due to the lack of insurance coverage and limited financial means, many undocumented immigrants rely on safety-net, health care providers for their care.
