Advancing Women In Leadership

Preview The controversy is on! We have for you two articles that deal with 'Women of Color' that will hopefully open up a world to deeper understanding and communication. They are: "Women of Color on Campus: Coalitions and Alliances for Survival and Success," (Stella Beatriz Kerl & Pamela Renee Moore); and "The Process of Tenure: The effect on Women and Faculty Members of Color," (Rosita L. Marcano). And for the women that start at the bottom and work their way up we have: "The Career Path and Profile of Women Chief Academic Officers in Public Community Colleges" (Brent D. Cejda and Cynthia B. McKenney); "Gender Equity Modes in Science Teaching and Learning-Mirrored Structures, and Designs for Change" (Dr. Doris Ash); and Dichotomy of Perception: An Analysis of Faculty Perspectives on Affirmative Action in the University of Missouri System (Shawn Woodhouse). Our intent is that this journal is viewed as a professional publication site for scholarly inquiry and perspectives that promote gender equity and advance women in leadership. It is our hope that you find this issue of Advancing Women in Leadership thought provoking, enjoyable, and that you look forward to subsequent issues. Suggestions for improvement, encouragement, and submission for upcoming issues are welcomed and appreciated. We would like to apologize for the tardiness of the Winter, 2001 issue. This was due to unforeseen technological compilations. We hope that this has not discouraged you. Genevieve Brown, Ed.D. & Beverly J. Irby, Ed.D. Editors
