To All our Valued Clients, Welcome to our first edition of “Advantage Style” magazine. We hope this is the start of many great issues to come. This will become a regular forum to share our work, our inspiration, and to keep you up to date with everything our styling team have been up to. It’s been a big year for Advantage. We are now settled in to our new Headquarters at Mascot and have expanded our fleet of vehicles, as well as our Styling Team, all of whom are working nicely together to best service Sydney’s Real Estate Market. As it has been an interesting year in the market, we have found that now, more than ever, it is really important to ensure properties are presented in their best light. When aiming to get top dollar for any property, the way it is presented makes the world of difference in the end result. Whether a property sells for a higher price, or sells in a faster timeframe, styling is fast becoming the “norm” within the Sydney market to ensure the best possible outcome. With the peak Spring Selling period having just hit, we are geared up and well rehearsed for the busy months to come. Our Stylists have been working hard on developing new looks and new furniture ranges in recent months, ready for the exciting season ahead. We hope you enjoy this issue, and look forward to styling your next listing! Warm Regards, Jeff Reinhardt Director | Advantage Property Styling

P.S. Keep an eye out for our trucks in your suburb! Page | One

Natalie Pritchard-Davies and I had the pleasure of attending the seminar by renowned UK Interior Designer, Abigail Ahern of Atelier Design. Her knack for playing with scale, creating visual drama, ability to mix sludgy, inky hues with bright pops of bold colour, and not to mention her gift for mixing vintage with the contemporary to create intriguing & intimate spaces was in itself inspiring. Whilst not exactly the same concepts adhered to for styling homes for sale, those same principles for creating a memorable space certainly rang true.

The most beautiful Trade Gift Fair of the year, featuring new emerging designers, along with some of the beautiful “old faithful’s”. We can’t wait to receive our orders of gorgeous new screen printed cushions from the likes of Brown Trading Co and Canvas Home. And our bathrooms will soon be styled with our new collection of luxurious Voluspa products, in the very popular bronze, silver and turquoise colour ranges.

Furnit ure & Decorat or Trends

Colour and Floral were also proving very popular trends, which we are looking forward to embracing in the upcoming Spring & Summer months. Never was this colour more intense than at one of our favourite showrooms, Meizai (www.meizai.com.au) in Richmond, Melbourne. This is a haven of everything the modern interior could ever want for. We coveted their full range of bold coloured vases, amazing screen-printed art and feature outdoor furniture in crisp whites and bold turquoises.

Suburb Snapshot

Often touted as an ‘up and coming’ inner city suburb, Redfern is divided into two distinct areas, with Redfern East being the more upmarket section, adjoining Surry Hills. Traditional terraces and more contemporary apartment developments comprise the majority of Redfern’s architecture. Coffee, Tea & Me is a shoebox-

The last 12 months have seen the addition of hot spots such as the Eathouse Diner- a diner type concept with 50’s styling and seriously good old school Americana cookery. This place boasts more than just skinny jeans and

Regent St has long been known for its collection of retro and vintage furniture and home wares stores. In recent times, there has been a migration up Redfern St with stores such as Seasonal concepts, a magical treasure trove of all sorts of vintage inspired finds. And the fledgling ... on Elizabeth St the Jason Mowen Gallery has been providing the corner with interesting window displays of high end tribal art and artefacts.

On Sunday 14th August 2011 Advantage Property Styling had their first team ever take part in Sydney’s City 2 Surf Event. They did a great job, had fun and got out there in the community.

White is just White

... I DON’T THINK SO!

With many years spent in the construction industry, I can’t even begin to count the number of times I have heard this said....and boys I am pointing the finger at you! I do understand your plight as long suffering husbands and partners being dragged through tile and laminate showrooms with the never ending paint sample charts and even more sample pots. Who wouldn’t want to just choose any old white? The colour white does however have many faces. An entire scheme can be ruined because the whites put together are different from each other. Don’t confuse this with depth of colour – many whites ranging in depths can be put together as long as they are from the same family. When I refer to family, I mean is the white more pink, yellow, grey or brown based. Each one is a family. Imagine a bathroom, a white bathroom; you are selecting all the finishes. This will include no doubt a bath, basin, wall and floor tiles, vanity top and doors and paint colours to the ceiling, walls, architraves and door. You can’t choose one in isolation, the wall tile must be placed next to the bath with the laminate and paint samples. Following this you won’t destroy your scheme. When the whites don’t flow together they will fight against each other and one white will make another appear dirty or dull. Apart from the samples themselves, the lighting in a showroom can be misleading and make a tile look more yellow or pink than it is, so make sure you view everything together under the same light... preferably natural light.
