Have a cuppa and recharge on long journeys

VICTORIA State Emergency Service (VICSES) volunteers together with Lions Club, Rotary and RSL operate more than 45 Driver Reviver sites around Victoria on holiday weekends and peak traffic days, offering motorists a safe place to stop and refresh.

VICSES volunteers offer free coffee, tea and snacks at roadside locations to encourage drivers to stop, rest and refresh, in an effort to ensure they can arrive safely at their destination.

The national program aims to provide opportunities for local communities to contribute to addressing fatigue-related road trauma.

VICSES provides the largest road rescue network in Australia, with 104 accredited Road Crash Rescue (RCR) provider units (Principal Providers) across Victoria, and 22 Rescue Support units (Rescue Support Providers).

On June 9 (King’s Birthday weekend), Murchison SES will be at the Calder/ Woodburn Truck Stop from 1pm-7pm, so if you’re driving through, make sure you stop and have a good break to ensure you have a safe driving journey.

“Look out for our Visual Message Board (kindly donated from Game) 1km from the stop site. We provide free coffee, tea, milo and hot chocolate and an assortment of biscuits along with a BBQ of sausages and onions with your choice of bread. We even cater for your four-legged fur babies. There will be a limited amount of show bags that will keep the kids entertained on your travels,” said Jo Sapwell.
