TRUSTED CARE FOR BRAIN AND SPINE.
Carolyn Harris (right) is a miracle. The 57-year-old Arlington resident had an aneurysm and was taken to Methodist Dallas Medical Center where neurosurgeons with the Methodist Moody Brain and Spine Institute quickly performed lifesaving surgery. In a word, miraculous. Trust. Methodist.
“If you want to see a miracle, just look at me. I could never say thank you enough to the team of doctors who worked side by side to save my life.”

NO LIBRARY, NO DOG PARK, NO CONDITIONS
The land at Forest/Nuestra was earmarked to be a library, but funds didn’t support that. Some neighbors suggested the land could be used as a dog park until library money was raised. After a controversial community meeting, City Council member Jennifer Staubach Gates declared the property will be sold with no conditions. Condos? Office buildings? We did a community poll on Facebook and 65 percent wanted a park/playground while 35 percent preferred a community garden.
Oncor Chop
Neighbors Richard Brown and City Council member Jennifer Staubach Gates have worked with Oncor to find a solution so that trees are not cut down on the east side of Dallas North Tollway, north of Forest Lane. Oncor wants to update its towers. As a result, the company says it needs to clear trees. Neighbors want to preserve the trees. Brown hired an arborist. But Oncor ultimately owns the easements where the trees grow.
Remembering Blair Monie
The Rev. Blair Monie was an Advocate worship columnist for more than a decade, until he retired from Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church in 2014. Monie, who wrote 133 columns during that time, died in October. After his diagnosis, he wrote, “The biggest surprise in these early stages of my journey with cancer is that I’m experiencing an unexpected level of happiness — even joy.”
